Pinoccio

Synthetics as David or Bishop have their instructions and programmed behaviour, also strict protocols as non harming humans. I dont think that he just jumps over it. There must be a [i]reason[/i] or orders for his actions. David is the first sythetic series we know, even before the Cyberdyne 120-A/2 series ( Ash ) , so we will know him better in 3 weeks.

@Kane77; Bishop was the FIRST android type to have been programmed with the laws of robotics aka no harming humans. He says so after Ripley freaks out on him in Aliens. I don't think David had that programming but hey you never know. Also, Ash was a Hyperdyne systems bot not Cyberdyne. If so he would have answered to SkyNet and gone after John Connor once he was done with the crew of the Nostromo. :P

BTW is Pinocchio :p I hope for an horror Pinocchio's story then ... organic dna assault David syntetic structure to create an horrible monster ( maybe not far away from the classic xeno even if different )

Happy pinocchio story wouldn't work for this movie. I like the idea that David would want to become a real man, but something goes wrong with him and he gets punished for this wish or just suffers a lot.

I personally wish that David is the only survivor (still operational) at the end of Prometheus to see this character in the next Blade Runner xp

there won't be any Pinocchio theme to this. I think it's safe to infer from what we've seen that the themes will be creation, and the relationship of the creation to its creator. Nothing so obvious as a cheap remake of AI in space. it looks like David already sees himself as superior to humans, and sees the engineers as superior to humans too, so i'm guessing he either sees himself on a par, or just below the engineers. After that i imagine he'll have a conflict of interest with trying to do something to please his creator weyland, and wanting to do the only thing his creator couldn't give him, the ability to create new life himself, by using the technology of the engineers. i can't see him as just some dumb Data character, just curious about human emotions, that's been done to death.

I cant stand data or AI. Sickly things. Dave seems a bit to interested in the contents of the urn. Bit unhealthy if you ask me for a mere robot. Never mind any of the laws of robotics.whats he been programed with. Even for him to revere the sj is a bit wrong. Maybe a case of the capricas going on. I know id feel safer with kryton on the trip. A.I. Artificial Intelligence was a glorified retake on the Pinnochio story. I guess implementing that story could have some part in Prometheus but.....eh I don't know. Maybe David wants to be a real man, so he messes around with that green stuff, and maybe he becomes an Engineer in the process....and so he goes beyond being a real-life, breathing, living man. He becomes a [i]god.[/i] Maybe it could work. (:

Well i was thinking same kind of thing, that maybe a Synthetic could be changed into a more Replicant Andriod.... the purpose i thought we be for Weyland to use as a Host for his mind/soul. Thus increase his life expectancy.

Never understood the trope of robots wanting to be human. Like we're so awesome.
