Or perhaps a joint music hybrid of his contribution to a new film in collaberation with someone else? Does VANGELIS still have it?
Suggestions please... Thanks.

Blade runner or the prometheus sequel which is going to be the final? or both are going to be made by RS or any other director.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

Thats true, he (Ridley Scott) could direct one and produce the other and/or vise-versa...

Or both! He has been known to want to 'turn up the heat' as he has been know to say in the past of his recent film making career process...

There is only one correct answer to your question regarding Vangelis, and it's the same answer you give if someone asks you if you're a god (according to Winston Zeddemore) - YES!
His BR score is one of the most amazing, perfectly fitting scores I've ever heard. There is no other "voice" for that universe than Vangelis.

Heh, I'm definitely getting old. I thought I remembered that the soundtrack was by Tangerine Dream......durrrr.........as to the question, I don't think a follow-on movie would work without Vangelis, or at least some of the musical themes he composed for the first movie.

He is amazing, have you heard the 1492 soundtrack? If Ridley wants to use him I am certain he will do a great job.

It won't be the same ... period ... if not ... and being as it's in the SAME universe, plus NOT a standalone you could even have echos of some of the original to get the continuity perfect ...
I'm pretty sure Gerry Goldsmith would've done the Prometheus Sundtrack if he was still alive ... So being as Vangelis is still alive (aged 69) hopefully he's still got that touch and so do the soundtrack ...
Because ... Blade Runner if my all time fav ... even more so than Proemetheus, although it doing a good job of keeping me young lol ... Blade Runner is my baby ... it's got to be PERFECT :) ...

@artyoh, that soundtrack is for Legend. OH, and btw Ridley made a separate soundtrack for Legend with Jerry Goldsmith. I prefer the Tangerine Dream version, probably because it is the one I was exposed to as a child. I love Ridley's newer soundtrack choices, esp Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard OMG. xx

@Svanya
Yup, you're right....my age-addled mind was just confused....lol I liked that soundtrack too, FWIW.....while it has definite flaws, some elements of that movie are just amazing, pure genius.

Blade Runner is soo pretty though, it will always be lovely. Vangelis made the movie amazing IMO. I was so happy to finally be able to get the original soundtrack in 1994. Before that it wasn't the Vangelis version.

@svanya...speaking of 1492...that's an underrated film that's hard to find. Anyone know where it can be found on BluRay?

Oh, it has to be Vangelis for scoring the sequel to Blade Runner, this would a fitting artistic partnership between Ridley and Vangelis, they both can pull it off I am sure.
Lots of good info on Vangelis recording Blade Runner score at this site:
