MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 4:13 PMYes it's probably been mentioned before, but I cannot be bothered to read back dozens of pages :) But, anyone else think Shaw is the potential "carrier" for the proto-Xenomorph/Facehugger species?? As in the trailer, it kinda looked like the thing inside her wriggling around seemed more like a facehugger creature than a chestburster/xeno. . .
Thoughts??

MemberDeaconMay-17-2012 4:23 PMWell the organism she carries does seem a lot like the Orginal idea for the Face Hugger. Which was descriped as a Octopus like creature.
The Xeno from that script was descibed as nothing like the Giger one, it was a creature with 6 limps and had tenticles and it apeared have a tenticle like tongue....
Now ages ago somone who said they had seen some concept work and props on set said they saw the Proto Xeno and what he descirbed and showed me was a cross between a Xeno, the Prawns from Disrict 9 with Tenticles aswell as arms and legs....... funny enough the Xeno thingy in the Mural with the Engineer looks just like that minus Tenticles.
The so called Twiter Girl who saw the movie, also says that the Shaw baby grows into a creature with Tenticles that has a long tongue that implants things into the crews mouths and then changes them....
So i would assume Ridley is going for the Orginal Alien Scripts Face Hugger and Xeno design....
But as a Proto Xeno.... or something new who knows.

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 4:28 PMHmmm. . . Perhaps Big Dave! I cannot see the thing inside Shaw being that "cobra" like creature that we see slip inside a crewmembers suit, that'd be too obvious don't ya think?

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 4:29 PMI think the less we bring Alien into Prometheus, the better.

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 5:00 PMIt's has been previously speculated that Shaw is already pregnant. Those of us who believe so see multiple possibilities for the organism we will see and its transformation. If infection or incubation of this organism is shown to have happen post landing of LV223 the genetic probablities are somewhat different I believe. Whatever the mutation I do not think Shaw's offspring is the final stage in the xeno evolution process.....at least not the xeno we are accustom to seeing.
Thinking back now it believe there has to be at least one other organism that impacts the xeno genetic structure, if we are allowing Aliens to be used as a reference point for the canons. There isnt anything I can think of or any stage of human evolution I can recall that something resembles a facehugger. That creature is very unique in its design. The organisms inate nature to incubate and the feriosity at which in pursues doing so..seems designed...or engineered....so to speak. So i really do think that they are some wonderful things in store for us and the last 12 minutes will provide another important clue for us fans..Cant wait!

MemberOvomorphMay-17-2012 5:06 PM@fanboy79 - Nope, I think what Shaw is carrying is the basis of the Xeno species, what she "births" is what will eventually infest the Jockey we saw dead in the Derelict ship in Alien. The rest is history as they say. . .

See, the problem with this is that it's already been asserted that the derelict from Alien is much, much older than the juggernaught in this film. So it's unlikely that the creature Shaw births will be the one which causes the demise of the SJ on that ship.
The pregnancy thing? I think from some of the teaser scenes we've seen, there's a possibility that Shaw & Holloway get it on at some point in the film, before she realises he's infected. Fast forward to early stages of pregnancy, but infected with the Xeno DNA, and therefore rapid progression through the stages of birth.

MemberOvomorphMay-18-2012 11:01 PMIf Shaw becomes pregnant onboard the Prometheus after Holloway is infected, well, that will just be lame, because it's soooo done before. (Species, elsewhere.)
I know R.Scott loves body horror, and that Alien was supposed to be, in part, about male fears of women and the pregnancy/birth process, but jeez. Does Prometheus need to re-hash all that?
Although, if that IS the story line, it will be pretty effective horror for this fangirl since I'll be watching in the cinemas with my husband and our 22 week old fetus!!
