So long ago when the first still was released

Oh the humanity!

It certainly has been quite the ride. I remember launching this site 4 months after the film title was publicly released. Hard to believe it's been nearly 2 years already and that we're a mere 20 days away from seeing it finally. For some, 14 days. Truly incredible.

BugHunter this is a fantastic site. I have really enjoyed all the features and everyone's hard work both monitoring and creating it. Cheers

@BugHunter Great Job on the sight bro!! Really enjoy it plan on staying with it well after release of the film. I do have a tech question though. How do i learn to do a site like this without formal schooling. Nowhere near as tech savy as you are man i dont even know how to post links...forreal. I would like to learn how i can help out with the sight though. I would like to post all the new video clips and such in a way that makes it easy for the fans of the film and this sight to view compare and give their perspective. You have given us invaluable information and access but i can just imagine how overwhelming the task of keeping this thing running can take. Just want to help...and of course figure out how to educate myself on how to do somehing as cool as this...lol

Well fanboy79, I'm self taught, I never went to school for programming or web design. Just decided to learn one day and practiced. Prometheus-Movie.com is the first site I've attempted to build a software + design for. From a blank notepad document, to this. It took me 4 months to get the framework, but after a while you pick up new things and learn better ways of getting the job done and before you know it, you have a fully functional site. It's not super complicated like a lot of forum/blog softwares out there and lacks some neat features like embedding videos, buddy lists, subscriptions, etc.. But it will keep expanding and growing and I plan to add all the features that have been requested in time. But you certainly can teach yourself. I did.

And as a side note - Yes.. I will be launching a Blade Runner 2 site in the future. I know some of you have been asking about that.

..i remember I was house sitting my sisters place during December 2010 when I first learned about this movie...I was so bored....felt like surfing the internet but could not think of anything interesting to look for....finally typed " Alien sequel" into google and viola!...Ridley has confirmed Alien Prequel.....I was ecstatic....seems like 20 years ago...lol

@BugHunter kool beans man! learning how to do kool shit like this is my next project. Any suggestions as far as books i need to pick up or particular hardware i need like super fast cpu or any of that stuff...cause dude seriously i can type and cut and paste with the best of them, but thats about it!!! lol and i am working on some new theories for the film...i dont think the folks who say they saw advanced screenings are all saying bullshit!!! let me know what you think if you will as far as where we are now with info Thanks dude

@BigHunter... Thank you for giving us this ship that you built, it has taken us far beyond our wildest dreams (regarding Aliens-Prometheus). Right now we are 6102 ship mates in this journey to a near end. The awaiting was been less distressing because we all had this place to come and dream... ...Wait..... got to dry my eyes... ... just kidding... THANKS and remember there might be a sequel! : )

I joined on 4/13/11...I think it was me and maybe a handful of others? The rest were probably the staff! Good times:O)

I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to start a BR2 website. It's likely to be at least a year before anything substantial even starts with that film. Ridley Scott is doing that Cormac McCarthy western before he does BR2 and who knows it might not be until 2014 when the film goes into production.

....say what u want about all the spoils that fox has released lately.....they keep the forums alive....their was a stage when nothing new came out....these forums became like a desert....speculations just kept on orbiting around and around and i would only check this site once or twice a week....and be rewarded with a new image of David with a quizzical expression on his face....oh whoopi! ....now in the past month or 2...their is plenty to look at and the site is busier than ever... Thanks for being with us threw thick and thin Bughunter and all the moderators!.....I still remember the humourous bitch fights between spartucus and biomechanic....so entertaining...i'll never forget...whatever happened to biomechanic?...his still around?

@fanboy79, I personally did not read any books on programming, but it would certainly be a good start. Also get to know the PHP functions form PHP.net to get a grasp on how things work. This site also utilizes the "Smarty Templating Engine" - same as what PHPbb uses. It keeps the php separate from the template - making editing a lot easier. But practice, practice, practice. You never stop learning, especially with this kind of thing. @pslock, I've got the domain names, won't launch the site for it for while. But you need to start as early as possible with these kinds of sites. Takes about a year to get off the ground, but after that it's smooth sailing. @everyone else, I'm glad you enjoy the site. As I've mentioned in other threads and forum update threads, I will be adding a lot more functionality to the site as time goes on. So, this is only the beginning. I hope you all stick around for Prometheus 2. I have no doubt Prometheus will lead into a sequel. Maybe even a 3 part series, who knows. But regardless, I'll keep this site going as long as you all use and enjoy it. It's been a blast and I can't wait to converse with you all after we've all seen the film and share our thoughts on everything that is exposed. I think we'll have even more to speculate about following the film's release than what we've had this entire time leading up to. I think we will have more questions coming out of the theater than when we went in - which will make for great conversation.

I regret that I have been a long time lurker instead of joining this funny community straight away, but anyway, here is my *collective hug*.

Right on man , i was following this back in Sept /11, but joined right after x-mas Mr Bug , you are right on and looking forward to the next promethues movie but lets get june behind us , WHAT A DAY THIS WILL BE

I still can't quite believe that 17 plus years of a what I thought was a pipe dream are actually coming to a proper conclusion with the dream of Ridley Scott returning to make another Alien film...I always thought it was just too much to hope for...things like that just don't ever seem to happen, but OH...WAIT...it actually did.
