Hey guys. I have found out about Prometheus just a few months ago and I totally got fascinated by the movie. The plot, atmosphere,.... I then also started to show a lot of interest for "Alien" and got amazed by these creatures that grow in your body. And I never considered myself a SCIFI-fan before. Because I think 90% of these movie are so stereotypical but Prometheus and Alien made me fall in love with this genre. They have this deep and creepy feeling, very special. You know, I don't have so much knowledge and wouldn't be able to join your discussions, but I just love reading the threads for hours :). 1. Are you also a newbie who fell in love with Prometheus....? 2. Would you consider "Prometheus" a typical hollywood movie? (Personally I wouldn't, because there is nothing Hollywood about it except the actors maybe?) 3. Don't you think that the soundtrack could have been a bit more experimental? (I just loved the music they used for every trailer but it doesn't reappear in the final soundtrack I think)

Hello goldenrain, Actually I only learned of Alien and the rest of the franchise maybe two years ago (yes, sad.) when I was 13? So I'm definitly a 'newbie' based on most people from this site. To your second question, no. Even the actors. Lastly, sort of, I really liked the music from the trailers, and the soundtrack seems a little bland, I guess. Then again I don't normally listen to soundtracks unless I'm really interested in the movie. I was listening to it last night, and I have to say, the music grows on you.

If you're just getting into Scifi, treat yourself to "John Carpenter's The Thing" one of my favorites. You won't be dissapointed.

You should start with1969's 2001 and move on, for atmosphere and trying (what was) new then try... 1967 - Quatermass and the pit 1960 - Village of the Damned 1956 - Forbidden Planet 1964 - Robinson Crusoe on Mars 1970 - The Andromeda Strain 1971 - A Clocwork Orange (one of my favourites, i think the punks in general take a lot from this). 1971 - Silent Running 1974 - Dark Star (almost ablueprint for Alien at times) 1976 - Logans Run 1977 - The Island of Dr Monreau 1978 - Boys from Brazil 1980 - Scanners 1980 - BLADE RUNNER (dribbles with love) Just to suggest a few, a great new world... a world to explore and make you question. (I realize you can tell the kinda' age I am by my choices)
