I see most of the Alien stories as being cautionary tales about shitty risk management. Prometheus doesn't seem to be much different in that regard. In my business dealings I usually tell people who think they have a great idea to run it by a five year old kid first so they can get some valuable feedback.

I agree completely. Curiosity does seem to have the oddest side effect of getting people to throw the survival instinct right out the window. If I were Kane I'd have hauled ass and yanked 3 times when the egg opened. Scratch that I'd just send a robot down that hole.

At the end of recent viewing session I to wondered Curiosity Killed the Humans and was surprised that there was thread on this subject. If we had not made this trip life as we know it would contue forever. I mean if noboy went to wake up the Engineers thenthe earth life we know would also continue forever in our lifetime. What were Shaw's thouhgts as she blasted off for the Engineer's home? The easy part is saying to answer her 'Why' question. In her more sober moments She must realize taht She brouhgt death to all thise aroubnd her including lover holloway. That is heavy burden not easily dismissed. At some point in her thouhgts did she accept blame for the crew's deaths and perhpas the Earths demise Curiosity killed the cat and civilization as we know it. In reading over some posts on this htead it does seem like there were not many precautions taken by the crew when they first start to explore the dome area. Don't you think they should have at least drive around the dome they had singled out? I mean isn't Re-Con a basic part of checking out an unknown area?
