another link to Alien...

Hi all, I'm a first time poster, I've been following the chit chat on the site for months now so I thought I'd finally join in. Apologies if this has already been discussed on another thread, but I've spotted yet another link to Alien, this time on the soundtrack. I bought it from itunes the other day (great soundtrack) and have been listening non stop to it since, and then the penny dropped.. track 18 called Friend From The Past is EXACTLY the same music from the original Alien (the music where the Nostromo lands on LV426). On the Alien soundtrack it's track 5 (The Landing). I didn't know if anyone else has spotted this (sorry if its already been discussed), but I thought I'd flag it.

Cheers for the welcome Mithra Just listened to both tracks again, definitely the same music in there in the Prometheus track. Ridley keeps stating the 'its not an Alien prequel' line but more & more links are surfacing...

That's true cn75, you nailed it, it's the same melody (one of the most memorable melodies in Alien). I hadn't heard that track before, but it struck me immediately as I heard it. Sounds like a homage, or possibly a very strong link to the original in some way.

Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

That track is very curious, what would we see in prometheus that is supposedly from the past but would use a muiscal cue from events which occur in the future? Wierd? It's definitely worth the purchase Takka - it's a great score and you can tell the shit is going to be hitting the fan at a pretty regular pace.
