I certainly recognized HDS, but I didn't make the ALIEN connection , dialogue wise.

Yes he did.
He was great recently in the HBO series BIG LOVE.
HDS is alright!

Anyways, I must second that he was great as a Polygamist patriarch in Big Love, and when he left, the show went downhill fast.
