'I think the Space Jockey is actually some how the pilot and he is part of a military operation if that is the word you want to apply to his world and therefore, this is possibly somekind of 'carrier'. A 'weapon carrier' a biological or bio-mechanoid 'carrier of lethal eggs. Inside of which are these small creatures that will actually, fundamentally intergrate in an aggressive way into any society or any place it is dropped. So if you land on a human being you have a resemblance to a human being, it will look like a human being. If it is dropped on an Osteritch, it will look like an Osteritch. And there is a fundamental connection to that in nature because we actually watched in preperation for this,Oxford Scientific had actually had this interesting piece of footage where they watched a slice of bark which in our
terms to a human being would be about twelve feet thick and there's a grubb underneath the bark between the bark and the tree. There's always a distance between the bark and the tree.
Across the top of the bark is crawling an nsect which passes over the grubb, stops, backs up and FEELS the grubb is there. Lets say the equivalent of eight feet below you and goes upon its hind legs, produces a needle from between its legs and drills through the bark and bullseyes' right into the grubb and lays its seed. So that the grubb becomes the host of the insect and now just what comes out of the union of the grubb and the insect is that becomes a version of both!
The blue beams would be very effective in creating the 'skin' like a protection. As John (Hurt) says a: "Layer of mist", then slips, goes through unhanded but maybe thats what is like the membrane or likethe membrane protecting the eggs. So lets say he's broken the membrane, maybe he hasn't. But if now there sitting there pre-warned and programed like organisms to react if touched. And of course he will touch it.

There's an appetite for a fifth one, which is something I never expected and you know well I said it's really expected and you know well I said its really hard to come up with a fifth story thats new and fresh but I have wanted to go back into space. I think outer-space adventure is a good thing for us right now cos' Earth is so grim and we've been talking about it but very generally.
(RS)
Its a tough one, particularly the success of four. I think if you close the lid it should be the end of the first chapter and think very simply what no ones done is simply gone back to re-visit what was it? No one has ever said that.
(SW)
Where did it come from?
(RS)
Whos the Space Jockey? He wan't an "Alien". What was the 'battleship'? Is it a battleship? Is it an air craft carrier? Is it a bio-mechanoid weapon carrier as was an air craft carrier? Why did it land? Did it crash land or did it settle there because it had engine trouble if these things had engines? Everything has an engine.
(SW)
Or did he get the S.O.S?
(RS)
Exactly. And how long ago?
(SW)
Yes.
(RS)
Cos' those eggs would sit there.
(SW)
Would you never want to ever go back to where "they" came from?
(RS)
Ohh, I think you have to.
(SW)
I think that thats the question I have always asked myself is that what kind of society are they if they are one?
(RS)
Yeah...
(SW)
What kind of a world do they come from amd why do they leave.
(RS)
Yeah...
(SW)
Why do they send aliens out?
(RS)
Yeah... Its entirely ilogocal, that we are the only people in this galaxy.
(SW)
I think so too.
(RS)
Its entirely ilogocal that we're not.
(SW)
It'd be so dissapointing and ridiculous.
(RS)
Exactly.
(SW)
I can't.
(RS)
Thats US!? But if you believe in the Big Bang Theory whichis the Earth was about the size of a golf ball but still weighed the same amount, exploded, right that "Why are we the only ones cos'...from that to where we are now is such an accident of TRILLIONS of events to do the right thing so that you can sit right here" is actually impossible.
(SW)
Mmm Hmm!
(RS)
Thats where Science and Religion start to do that.
(SW)
Mmm Hmm! I think it would be great to go back. Because I'm asked that question so many times "Where did the 'alien' come from?" People really wanna' know in a visceral way.

It was an interesting annectdote to say but we thought at one stage, Gordon Carrol and I after much rummination in he evenings after shooting we'd always sit there with a drink and out feet up throbbing on the desk and we'd think:"How would we finish the movie?" and we came up with one night with the bright idea at the end of KILLING Ripley! And we thought: "Wouldn't it be great if he comes out the wall, comes out the box, she shoots him in the chest and he goes out through the door but he just RIPS the harpoon from out of his chest, comes forward and basically kills
her! Then you cut to the desk and you see the shadow of the great kinda' "horses head" (the Xeno Alien's) over the desk and you hear the creak of the seat as it sits in the leather seat and the hand comes in over the buttons and starts to press tentitvely on the buttons.
And then this voice comes out which actually is a pretty-good mimic of either Dallas or Ripley sending a message back to Earth saying that they are on their way. And therefore, you have the 'Alien' hurtling through space, in a shuttle, going towards Earth. Course, I recanted this one evening over the phone to Laddy (Jr.) and I think Gareth Wigan. I think it was a Tuesday night I think by Thursday morning we had two executives from L.A. saying: "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MINDS!?" You know and I said Yes! No! No! Bad idea! Bad idea! But you know whether or not they do another one or not I don't know, and Ripley still lives - so there you go!"
