They always said Krang was an alien, i guess this thread is where Prometheus and TMNT universe meet.

In what sense? I dont understand what it is your referring to.

KronikMay 20, 2012
I have to admit that I've not seen Independance Day! But the similarity between the xeno in the mural and the ID alien is somewhat striking... But in a strangely nice way. Still desperate to figure out the meaning of the mural though. The next 12 days are gonna be tough.

Id Rather Be Eatin Something ElseMay 20, 2012
I was going to say those tentacles on that creature right above look very much like the creature from Independence Day and you have it there! Good!

Cthulhu... his true name is Bob.
All hail Bob the Traveller

Big Dave,
I think that picture at the end is going to very close. Original? probably not so much...but what can they do? Just about everything has been done by now, At least the creature does not resemble a steroid pumping close encounters grey alien.
I am more worried about the convenient battle between the Blue guy and the creature. I do not want that to morph into some sort of Godzill VS. Mothra disaster.
MostlyMay 20, 2012
I think from the trailers, especially the last one showing it wrapping up Mr blue and still sending out a tentacle for Shaw that it has plenty of tentacles to spare.

Dr octavious from spiderman?

BigDaveMay 20, 2012
I guess it depends on how much of the creature has Tentacles...
If its like the Independance Day one then i guess thats not so bad, only again its not orginal really....
I just hope its not more tentacle than none tentacle i.e like the Mountains of Madness Shoggoth.... but then the so called remake of that movie has been put on hold because of Prometheus...
I loved the Xeno for being Orginal, like i loved the Cloverfield monster as orginally it was also going to have influences from Cthulhu.
The person i spoke to who said he saw concept work etc ages ago, showed me a image that looked just like Independance Day Alien minus tentacles.
And two people i spoke to who apparently seen the movie said Shaws Squid grows into something that Alien fans would be happy with and does resemple Shaws Baby but also we would see a lot of the Orginal 1979 Xeno in how it looks.....
Guess that means Independance Day guy then lol...

Big Dave can you screen cap the last picture you had along side the Xeno Mural? Can we see any tentacle like things on the Xeno in the mural?
Engineer Xeno - Chr1sMay 20, 2012
Hey all,
regardless of the aesthetics of the creature, if it can park a space jockey on the floor then this thing must be badass!

Arthur Clarke once wrote 3001: The Final Odyssey. It (the story) was just like Independence Day, only without the cool boom-boom weapons. And all this from the guy who brought us 2001, and many written masterpieces - Fountains of Paradise, The City and the Stars, Rendezvous with Rama. he also wrote some royally bad sequels (I am still undecided if the worst written SF sequel ever was 3001 or Rama Revealed.) I cringed when Lindelof actually quoted Clarke from the Rama sequels - the statement itself holds: "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". This was the only thing in the Rama sequels worth anything; otherwise, they build up through several books - and not everything in the books is bad - to a desperately idiotic conclusion. I hope Lindelof did not put any of that into the screenplay - however, have to mention that a species more advanced than humans shown in the Rama sequels looks rather like an octopus - it's even called an "octospider."

Well yes the Mural thingy does have what also look like tentacles near its mouth pretty much simular to ID Alien...
The thing we have seen in spoilers looks massive and its hard to work out how many tentacles it has....
But there are 4 stages, if we assume Shaws Baby is stage 1 then we have two missing stages and if we assume Holloway Eye Parasite is Stage 1 we still have one more...
So we do not know yet.... if Cuddles grown up, implants something into a Host could it be that host that then gives rise to the Organism that i had described to me and thus maybe simular to ID Alien Exosuit?

OK so 2061 wasn't great, but 3001 I thought much worse. The monolith goes berserk (yawn) and must be stopped using a...computer virus (double yawn). Independence Day meets War of the Worlds, only where are the weapons?
Did you ever read the Rama sequels? Rendezvous with Rama is one of the greatest SF books ever, and I feel sorry again and again as they try to turn it into a movie, but it always falls through. You have Rama II, which is bad and anachronistic to boot (Soviets), then came The Garden of Rama, which was actually good, almost great (apart from some then-fashionable stereotypes - such as the Evil Yakuza). And then the story was concluded in Rama Revealed, which was completely ugly awful. It culminates with an explanation of the Universe (spread out over ALMOST 2 pages), which is so bad I cannot even make myself repeat it here.

the head of the mural is similar to the xenohead

Wirrn:
Yes I did. I read all Arthur C. Clarke's work.
Yet I have to say 3001 was interesting for Franks reappearing and the Moon as a repository for all that is Dark and grim in Human History [the Vault].
Still, my favourit SciFi Novel is Dune and it's sequels.

I don'think either Giger mural shows Cuddles.
The first mural shows something weird - an apparently crucified human-like figure with a xeno-shaped head. Head that may be changing at some point, into what we still don't know.
The second mural likely shows the creature Fifield turns into. In the newer versions of the scene where Fifield jumps at the other guy over the vehicle, it is actually possible to see the spikes on his elbows - just like the spikes the creature in the mural has.
Those are only my guesses, though...

SpartacusMay 20, 2012
you say it was "time for a change" but CLEARLY as Shaw Proves out right by looking up at it, it is NOT a MURAL it is moving and IMO is part of a Large defense system all over that cave involving XENOMORPHS as we knew them in Alien, and I mean anyone that saw that image of that thing and does not admit that's a XENO is in denial IMO...and I am in fact saying it is CLEARLY a Xenomorph, Clearly Moving and/or coming to life and CLEARLY that thing is far far far far far more than just a mural and then there is the very and completely ill logical nature of that argument and thought. NO race of beings of the type that it appears the Engineers are is wasting their time on the cave Decor in their most important and "holiest of holies" for when MOM comes to visit....there's just NO WAY...remember you heard it from me first so you can come back and lace into me when we find out how wrong i was or....be ready for Spartacus to say..."I Told You So" !!!

so who can be........................ A FRIEND FROM THE PAST .................... anyone???

KronikMay 21, 2012
@Cryo
I wondered about that too... Great piece of music though.
Maybe Holloway (if, and only if he's the SJ, as many people seem to think) reverts back somehow, or regains a bit of humanity and recognises Shaw before he dies. Although I'll admit I would need to take that cheese with a heavily buttered cracker.

BigDaveMay 21, 2012
@Cryo
Please dont say its Ripley lol...... i would not be suprised with Lindelof on the team..... thank fully she is not in the credits..

Cameo appearances are never credited normally ... only at the end of the movie itself ... ;) ...
I remember watching Robin Hood (kostner version) and Sean Connery was at the end of the movie ... total surprise ... the whole cinema lost breath for a split second ... he wasn't not listed until end of movie ...
From IMDB:
Why it is that, occasionally, well-known actors have significant roles in movies but are not listed in the credits?
Well-known actors have made cameo appearances in a movie and their name is not included in the credits to avoid spoiling the surprise or drawing too much attention to what is essentially a very minor (but often pivotal) role.
Sometimes the missing credit is the result of a billing dispute: a big-name actor makes an appearance in the film and, rather than getting a minor or non-prominent credit, may prefer to take no credit at all.
BigDaveMay 21, 2012
Erm....
Well i noticed on IMDB that Sigourney Weaver is listed at the bottom under ... additional cast.... so i take it she was edited into the cast after the movie release.
Oh well maybe we shall see her in this movie or even Lance Henriksen then?
Oh knows....
