May 21, 2012If I remember correctly, in an early interview with RS he says that the film touches on the idea of god. I don't think, however, it's a main focus. There was so much drama about the rating, I can't even imagine the backlash this film would receive from followers of the christian faith. I do know that Shaw is religious, but I think this film will make a distinction between "gods". It's possible for the existence of aliens and an existence of god, but I feel this film will touch upon that in the form of biological alien gods and god existing in faith. I certainly could be wrong. I don't believe in god, but I do find religions and religious imagery fascinating and as much as I hate when those of faith push their beliefs (not all do, but some certainly), I have always loved the idea of religion in science fiction... something that just isn't touched upon that often.
I'm certainly curious to see the role of religion in Prometheus, and great find with the Christmas tree, btw lol I hope that the idea of a higher power, whether biological or idealogical, is touched upon not only by the humans, but by David and the SJ as well. I wonder what beliefs an "advanced alien species" has and how that reflects our own evolution, both figuratively and literally.
