Are We Like Pets?

When you come home and see your dog and cat has done something smart like say open a door or turn a faucet on, you may be annoyed but you say, wow I have smart pets.
When you come home and they are somewhere they are not supposed to be you get angry or at the least amused and send them out, taking steps so they do not go back.
When they take something they are not supposed to, or worse, damage or destroy it, you get mad and may punish them.
See the connection?

That reminds me of some 80's video I saw on YouTube concerning extraterrestrial life; in one part, the shadowed subject speaks of "spiritual communication", comparing the Greys and humans with humans and dogs. If you pet a dog on the head saying "Good dog," is that not a form of spiritual communication? You can't talk to the dog because the dog doesn't speak like you do, but the dog can understand you, and petting the dog is a form of spiritual communication. It's all the result of evolution, but it's still something to think about.
But on a bleaker note, yeah; I'd say we're nothing but pets to our creators. We're just a source of amusement to them, kind of like how humans view most animals (especially penguins).

I just hope if any of the Prometheus crew s#@t themselves the engineer does not rub their face in it.

I think we're like children to them....at least we used to be when they visited Earth in the past...when the Prometheus shows up, however, it a bit like The Sorcerers Apprentice...the human crew knows just enough to be a danger to themselves and the Engineers.
I think Vickers orders David to wake up an Engineer and that's the worst thing to do...like children playing with fire..burning down the whole house and everybody with it.

Children or pets, either way, I'm sure they perceive themselves superior to us and it's very likely that we've made quite a mess by the time the surviving Engineer wakes up.
What's most interesting to me is that Engineer's state of mind (in general, and on that day he awakens...)

We are but experiments to the engineers. We were not invited to this outpost, and we were never intended to gather their secrets of creation... we are Prometheus... not the aliens (engineers/sj).

I'm also thinking that at some point in the past, humans were taken to the engineers outpost and they are what built those temples or structures around the engineers artifacts, as if they were holy relics...those seem far too crude to be constructed by the engineers themselves. Perhaps the engineers were benevolent in a sense to those creatures that they were clearly superior to and the humans lived there until they died off

I agree, the humans as a group are Prometheus and I also think that within the crew is another Prometheus....David. I know some people don't see him making it to the end but I do...I think whatever control his fellow crewmen have over him is lost and he gains free will and also pays a price for it...he "grows" up, and I don't mean gets larger in size, I mean grows up as a child grows up...and loses his innocence.
This idea goes along the lines of what I see in statements by Ridley and Co....it may be anticlimatic to the audience, but I do think its close to what may happen.
I've got ideas stuck in my head but I won't be bummed out if I'm wrong...just the opposite, I'll see something I didn't expect and be thrilled no matter what

Remember what happened when Cortez first came to the "new World." The native Indians were overcome by this advanced European race. His lust for Gold was all it took to do a lot of damage.
We'd be toast to an advanced alien race.

I love my cat. But if she grew thumbs and learned how to get into my gun cabinet I would have no choice but to put her down.
