MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:05 PMItook my kid to a 4dx ( special effects ) for SW TPM ( aka EPISODE I ), and I can tell you that I actually enjoyed the film.
Then for the avengers I'm not sure if it was real 3d, digital 3d or whatever; but I kind of felt the image was a little bit dark. The effects look great, but not amazing.
I´ll try to go for IMAX 3d, although I've never seen a movie yet in this format, some friends have told me they prefer it over anything else; plus this movie was shot with 3d cameras, it is not a conversion.

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:08 PMMost of the 3D geeks will say IMAX because of the size and whole experience. I've heard certain digital IMAX theaters have pixelation/resolution issues though. I would go with the biggest quality theater that you have good experience with. Quality, big sound with no distortion is a must for me. The "Hometree attack" in Avatar was pretty special on a big screen with big sound. The ship explosion in Prometheus looks like it might just rival the epic scale of that =)
