What do you think?
In a surprising move, Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of their upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation until March 29, 2013, a full nine months after its originally planned release date of June 29th.
Part of the postponement allows for the film to undergo a full 3D conversion.
"It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's President and CEO in an official statement.
The new date puts the sequel up against Andrew Niccol's adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host.
Starring D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, G.I. Joe: Retaliation is directed by Jon M. Chu.
In the sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

Yes, it'd surely be less competition for Prometheus. Although June 29th isn't necessarily close to June 8th in the states.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 7:24 PMI think logically that this G I Joe thing is going to FAIL miserably and it won't matter if it did or did not at all, not one bit, because G I Joe is not even in the same UNIVERSE as far as Prometheus goes, it could run right up against in 40,000 more theaters than Prometheus and it'll still FAIL HARD and do far less box office than Prometheus will...it is a KIDS idea from a Kids Toy and it will never rise above Kiddy Crap !

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 8:51 PMUn-f*+#ing-believable!!! It's not a prank it's totally confirmed by the LA Times and many other websites like Hisstank.com and others. In a move that is sure to make this movie a complete and obsolute failure Paramount Studios has delayed the release of this movie by a whole nine months to convert the film to 3D?!! What a lame-ass, piss-poor excuse from the suits at Paramount and Hasbro, imagine the outrage?!! What if this happen to Prometheus?!! There would be rioting in the streets!! Hey Spartacus guess you never played with action-figures as a child from the sound of your post showing much 'love' for the Joes.

MemberOvomorphMay-23-2012 9:07 PMIt was that bad ay? Focus groups walked out? Hardly surprising. Mind you, some ten year old boys will be crying in their corn flakes.

MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 12:55 AMThis is indeed gonna be a great summer for movies. It would've been even better if they didnt push the next Star Trek movie back to 2013 as well. Hollywood may just stop me from pirating movies if they keep this trend up.

MemberOvomorphMay-24-2012 3:49 AMIt's nearest contemporary is 'The Avengers' if anything. Which by the success of that probably forced the 3D hand.
Although it's all dressing.
