MemberOvomorph02/17/2012Well the shock of the Chestburster is not what happens horror-wise, it's the fact that they were happy eating a meal together beforehand. So if you want something to echo that in Prometheus maybe...a couple making love? Then it's interrupted by something happening to one of them?

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012When you find out there is another creature more vicious than the xeno, that makes the SJ and Engineers take a figurative dump when it gets unleashed mistakenly by the humans. lol

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012Whatever Shaw is giving birth too and she is in utter pain and torment as we see in the trailer....but I think I will be one of many because Scott is not holding back this time around.

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012If a crew member suddenly transformed into a "skeletal monstrosity" controlled by the SJs and started eating the other members of the crew, that would be shocking.

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012you can't top one of the most disturbing shocking ,out of nowhere scenes in cinematic history

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012@ Raven - you can't top one of the most disturbing shocking ,out of nowhere scenes in cinematic history.
I think my friend in June that will become the second most disturbing shocking ,out of nowhere scenes in cinematic history

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012The icing on the cake for me will be finding out who or what is in the space jockey suit.

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012I tend to agree with @Raven......that scene is known, not just for its immediate shock on the audience, but its affect on the filmic landscape. There hadn't been anything like it before; it was unique and that simple fact, made it that much more disturbing and profoundly so. It's one of those scenes that stands alone, untouchable and untoppable.....you can bloody up these actors all you want, but it's almost impossible these days to bring something that different, with that kind of immediate, visceral and cultural impact. And that's not to say Ridley won't have something amazing waiting for us, but even he will have a hard time delivering something new like that, because you can't predict these things. You can't predict the impact of something like 'Alien' and, specifically, the chestburster scene. When it was written, when it was designed, shot and edited, people expected a reaction.....no one could have predicted the tidalwave it generated.
I do hope 'Prometheus' is as successful; heck....I can only pray it's as good. It's always nice to see something as original and visceral with that kind of impact.....but I'm not expecting it, I'm not hanging on every scene..waiting for it, I'm not even hoping for it, because I don't want to place impossible expectations on something that looks as promising as 'Prometheus'. If it does possess anything that impressive, I'll be eternally impressed and smitten with it......but if I expect and anticpate greatness, then I darn well better be ready for dissappointment as well, at least the possibility....and I'm not ready for that.
'Prometheus' looks amazing, everything about it screams the fantastic and the intelligent so often lacking in contemporary sci-fi that we always hope for and rarely receive.........the chestburster scene IS legendary......don't anticipate legendary....sit back, enjoy it for what it is and maybe, just maybe we'll all pleasantly be surprised and have something to talk about 33 years from now we can all call legendary and in the same company as the chestburster.
Just don't go shooting yourselves in the foot looking for it........

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012Agreee with Raven and craigamore, not high expectations or guilty pleasures.
The film will be great for the following:
1.- it has been mentioned that the ideas are bigger and more epic ( not meaning godzilla ). If there is something shocking it would be a disturbing concept for all the movie.
2.- HD, 3D, CG etc, standards in todays film industry will not overcome Sir Ridley, the story will be his main focus.
3.- THe visuals in trailer are stunning, the cinematography by itself should be a ride.
4.- It will not try to top ALIEN, or the chestbusrter scene; don“t mess with the classic and don't give up to cliches.
5.- best movies raise more qustions and do not show everything, although some cases is necessary.
anyway my take is that the "alien race " might show a glimpse of how they made the human species, perhaps perfecting another one like a " xeno ancestor ".

MemberOvomorph02/21/2012Humerous Human Fuck Puppets - Possibly a scene(s) reverting back to the sexual perversive undertones of Alien. Maybe human beings were created as the Space Jockey equivalent of a sentient "Fleshlight". Being that human beings were bred as concubine sex slaves to help Space Jockey's endure the woes of long space travel. SJs bioengineered humans to have humerous mating rituals/practices. And were entertained by them.

MemberOvomorphFeb-26-2012 9:02 PMI don't know if Prometheus will have a scene that truly tops the Chestburster scene from Alien. Maybe it won't top it, but it may have something similar.....and there was something similar in the leaked trailer before the official trailer, of something bulging out of someone's (Shaw's?) stomach.

Veteran MemberMemberOvomorphFeb-26-2012 10:27 PMThe worst thing I think of is an astronaut being dissected and spliced while at the same time being ingested by a biomechanical machine or creature while kept alive...Immortalized being reformed or pooped out into something horrible! Similar to the scene of Dallas being cocooned but more instantaneous and organized. Keeping it true to Gigers hellish universe of course. What's more terrorable than death is not to die but to be kept alive plugged into the biomechanical collective matrix shown paradise with the awareness that you are totally doomed! With no relief!

There is something scarier than that....it involves birthing but a different part of the body and it is so nasty that I can't mention it cause like Gigers universe, it is a real place. It starts off really small too!

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 12:35 AMI think Shaw will give birth to a grotesque creature it will be born the same way as a human child. The creature will either be born already being much larger than a normal child( how painful?) or it will more likely grow very rapidly and it will be an in your face horrific vag tearing blood bath
However I DO NOT think this will top the '79 chestburst. Prometheus will be hard pressed to top that and I know Ridley will have something awesome planned for us. "can't wait"

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 3:47 AMi think the idea of the life on earth being created by this biomutating agent in those jars is scarier than chestburster, it it goes back to the beginning of mankind and im sure that is not gonna go without an awesome horror-interpretation of present human life. xenomorphs cant cut it anymore, we grew past scary monsters
