Hey guys, pretty boring question here, but does anyone know if the 3d glasses used for Avatar will work with Prometheus? I'm talking just normal 3d not imax or anything.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but the kind of glasses you will wear depends on what kind of 3D projection technology your cinema uses, not on the movie. There are 2 main types of 3D glasses (with variations in each cases): active and passive. -Active glasses are the heavy bulky ones you 'rent' and leave (because $expensive/fragile$). The movie is projected at twice the frequency your eyes can see (24 images per seconds) so 48 images per second, showing successively left and right images. On the glasses, liquid-cristals like those in your watch will activate successively too in each left/right lens. As a result, your left and right lens will successively turn opaque black. Hence, your left eye only sees 'left-eye-images' and your right eye only sees 'right-eye-images'. Each eyes gets his fair share of 24 images/sec in the end, and the glasses are synchronised with the projector through an infrared receiver. -passive glasses are much simpler. They use lenses that are not polarised in the same direction on each left/right eye. Polarised lens only lets through light waves oriented in a certain direction (like a comb...). So left/right lenses are oriented at 90 degrees of each other, and the polarised-projector emits left/right images with the correct direction of polarisation so each eye gets the proper image All in all, if you kept your glasses, it means they are 'passive' and you can probably use them again if you go to the same cinema (or in a cinema with similar equipment)... so yes, bring them with you! Hope it helps -T.
