MemberOvomorphMay-26-2012 5:10 PMHey guys!
Along with the 1:18 scale figures I am sculpting from the motion picture ALIEN, I am also working on dioramas inspired by the sets that appear in the film. I plan on creating several - The galley, bridge, mother, medical, sleep chamber and various corridors. A long term project for sure but a labor of love...

The above image shows the figures I am working on placed within the working diorama to get proper scale.

A scratch build of the Nostromo pilot chair frame - inspired by the conceptual designs of Ron Cobb and the production work seen in the 1979 motion picture ALIEN. 1:18 scale. The finished frame will be molded then cast several times, adding a variance of worn upholstery and detailing to each using aves FIXIT. The chairs railing, which allows the pilot to move forward to engange the control panels and back to secure for launches and landings, will be created seperately and mount on metal rods. The safety belts will be added later.
Thanks for looking!

Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

MemberOvomorphMay-26-2012 5:22 PMMan, that is truly great work. Being a collector of figures of all sizes ie 1/12, 1/6, 1/4 and so on I REALLY wish companies would make stuff like this.
Keep it up and please post progress picks.
Hell, you should make "how to" or progress vids for youtube.

MemberOvomorphMay-26-2012 6:05 PMYou sir, you are an artist, brilliant!! What did you use 1:18 scale action figures? You should do the bridge of the Nostromo next.

MemberOvomorphMay-26-2012 6:48 PMsith_fire30,
I've been into modeling for 30 plus years. My interests range from sci-fi subjects, to large scale armor and figures, mostly in 1/16 scale. I've seen and judged some fine work at various competitions over the years, and I must say that your work is really top notch.
Your sheet styrene master for the Nostromo Pilot's Chair is very well constructed, and looks to be spot-on in it's detail and proportions. Choosing 1/18 Scale makes sense, with the large selection of action figures both sci-fi and military that are available for resculpt and conversion in that scale.
I'm headed over to your blog to see more. Thanks for posting your work!
