I thought Engineers become SJ's when they sit in the seat and get the "suit".

In the original alien-movies, the xenos seem to exhibit a primitive, almost blind, rage at the humans. Perhaps this is from their space-jockey origins. That would also make for an interesting plot, the crew being the real bad guys, as you mention. The jockey would then be a sort of benevolent power. I guess ridley chose a more twisted way to see things.

@Blood: wiki spoiler says it the engineer decapitates David. Doesnt seem too interested in David to me at all.

You should read my AVP thread in spoilers, it is surprising that you didn't get flamed for even posting this like I did (some fans on here are extremely defensive although users proxy and snorkelbottom were at least cool about it). But yes, I agree that it is strange to me that they decided to go in this direction. Although, as my lengthy discussion with snorkelbottom and proxy about this issue revealed, we cannot fully ascertain if there is really a complete lack of answers for the Engineer's motivations based on the wiki entry alone. If the film doesn't provide much more in the way of making the Engineers hostility towards the crew of the Promotheus justified, then I agree that they could just replace the Engineer with any number of mindless, cliche movie monsters. I was disappointed just like you when I read the wiki, but have since lowered my expectations considerably. I think this film will be more along the lines of Species, Even Horizon, or Red Planet, just with much better visuals, better acting (although Event Horizon had a decent cast), and a slightly better plot. It seems very much like this is Scott returning to the Alien franchise and the "space crew vs beasties" formula. That said, this may turn out to be the best new entry in the Alien franchise since Aliens. Even with the mixed reviews, I can all but guarantee that it will blow Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and the two AVP movies out of the water. And when you think of the movie that way, it is a pretty exciting film indeed.

@Danielfallz you'll just have to see the movie yourself to understant what I mean. And I can tell you that there is zero clue in the movie on why they are so hostile.

wasn't destroying earth (or live on earth) 1 of multiple steps to something. looks like if it wasn't that the engineers got killed there in the passed by whatever happened, earth would laready be destroyed by something. this is what i interpreted from wiki and spoilers. Ce n'est pas comme ca, Blood?

Was Engineer's sacrifice authorized by his race?

2 possibilities.. They created life and got bored So after making life ... they also want to take it or.. they made life .. found a planet that had Aliens and realised these creatures are hard to stop.. so in order to stop infections of the universe they want to destroy what they made to stop the spread of Aliens

3rd possiblity.. They create life only to serve as food for their weapon.. the Alien That is what is being said in the movie.. They created a weapon of mass destruction.. For this weapon (the Alien) they need hosts... I think this is the one storie in the movie They made life to be infected and harvest their weapon the Alien for a battle against a powerfull enemy we have not seen yet Therefor the drinks that become the alien egg layer in the lady that in the end destroys the creator.... The reason it all went wrong for them might be the strong reptile creature super movie

I think they just wanted to change the type of lifeforms that can be found on earth. Or, as you say, humans are just the first step in their plan, they had to wait for humans to populate before changing them again.

When the crew encountered the Engineer. Shaw was rambling about asking david to ask the engineer what was in the cargo etc etc. Whatever David said, it must of caused the engineer to feel threatened. (I even went back to when David was learning the language to make some sense but nothing came up) Maybe because of their mention of the cargo or whatever David said, caused the Engineer to become hostile/pissed because if they were in the cargo room, it means there is a possiblity they were "infected" or had released the aliens. Therefore the Engineer become mad and started hitting everyone. Because the Engineer seemed calm at first but when David mentioned something its mood changed. Thats my opinion.
