Its funny how we the public enjoy watching films like the Star Wars saga, and now with Prometheus coming out. It also will be added to the original Alien movie. There is even a possibility that a Prometheus 2 is already in the works. That is if it was not already filmed while they filmed Prometheus itself. In my personal opinion these two franchises owe a lot to one man, Jack the King Kirby. For those who don't know who he was. He was a comic artist/writer who helped create what we know today as the marvel universe. In that universe there are hundreds of personalities and memorable characters today that have become the mythology of the United States. For example. Examples are Capatain America, the Fanatstic Four, and somon... But in 1976 he created a group of space giants called the Celestials. This group of cosmic beings would travel the universe in search of life and do genetic engineering on those species that they consider had the to progress. That is were I find a strong connection with the Celestials and the Engineers in Prometheus. There is to much of a coincidence between both groups. He also created a very famous comic character named Dr. Doom. Who is the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four. George Lucas when young was a huge comic fan. He was such a big fan that the character Darth Vader is influenced by Doctor Doom, cape, helmet and all. King Soloman use to say that there is nothing new under the sun. Which I agree with. But I think kudos must go to the King of Comics. He has helped influence science fiction with his creative talent. Which we now enjoy watching.

Most forums forget the great comic book writers and artist of the past. Moebius get a 10% the credit Kirby does and deserves so much more. So much.

I agree with you. The Celsestial/ Engineer similarity is just speculation on my part. But there is just so much coincidence Whats very sad is that so much creative talent never gets to reap of what they created. I'm getting of the subject here, but the best example is Vincent Van Gogh. The man died dirt poor. He suffered emotional, psychological pain all through his life, and ended up committing suicide. He's magnificent paintings now go for hundreds of millions.
