MemberOvomorphMay-31-2012 6:17 PMIs he still working. You do know that he had cancer, and he had his lower jaw removed. He looks pretty bad.

MemberOvomorphMay-31-2012 6:49 PMHe is still around reviewing films. I've read some of his recent reviews and he does give away some plot points in his film reviews so I'd choose not to read his Prometheus review when it comes out. U.S. reviews may not come out til a few days before release out here.

MemberOvomorphMay-31-2012 8:12 PMThere is a 1986 review online of Aliens, and both Siskel and Ebert thought it sucked. They agreed it was too scary and long and they thought the whole Newt storyline and character was exploiting children in danger. Basically it was "better than Alien, but still not a good movie". I stopped caring about what they think a long time ago, though.

MemberOvomorphMay-31-2012 10:19 PMCritics criticize, Producers produce. Which is deserving of more respect?
Besides, critics give their opinion.
And opinions are like certain body parts, everybody has one.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:43 PMRoger is one of our favorite "fixtures" in Chicago. I think he is the most intelligent critic possibly enhanced by his great love of film.
His illness is deeply troubling to his fans. Let's all wish him well.
He's also a very tough critic but he always delves into his decisions as they are not made lightly. It will be interesting to see what he has to say.

I love Roger even when he's on the other side and Gene, well.....gone way too soon and sorely missed in Los Angeles. A magic team if there ever was one.
And Roger,.......wish you the best, Always.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 9:13 PMA.I. was deeply moving and profound...it failed and had bad reviews. 2001 was completely misunderstood and very long. Alien and Aliens were mediocre as far as reviews go.

Prometheus
BY ROGER EBERT / June 6, 2012
Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" is a magnificent science-fiction film, all the more intriguing because it raises questions about the origin of human life and doesn't have the answers. It's in the classic tradition of golden age sci-fi, echoing Scott's "Alien" (1979), but creating a world of its own. I'm a pushover for material like this; it's a seamless blend of story, special effects and pitch-perfect casting, filmed in sane, effective 3-D that doesn't distract.
