MemberOvomorphNov-19-2012 4:32 PMWhat is your favorite ship design from the alien universe? also dont cloud your judgement, you don't need to like the movie its from, for instance i really like "the Betty" from alien resurrection, and i hate that movie. my favorite ship would need to be the narcissus (the alien version, the aliens version was a little to skinny looking for my liking) closely followed by the sulaco. the nostromo and Prometheus were cool too, but i thought the nostromo was a little to incoherent and undefined and i thought the Prometheus was a little to fragile looking. (seriously those giant rotating engines could have all kinds of mechanical problems, stationary engines like on the nostromo make much more sense, but hey, it looks cool) also go ahead and use concept art because thats always cool, i love the syd mead spherical sulaco design and his original drop ship, so go with anything related to alien really.

MemberOvomorphNov-20-2012 4:14 PMyeah, its shape is just really cool and its white stands out against the dark grey of the nostromo.
oh and really? only one response so far? that's kind of lame lol

I love the look of Narcissus
but I would mostly like to ride in the dropship from Aliens!!
Ferro: [as dropship enters atmosphere] We're in the pipe, five by five.
Frost: Man, I'm telling you, I got a bad feeling about this drop.
Crowe: You always say that, Frost. You always say, "I got a bad feeling about this drop."
Frost: Okay, okay. When we get back without you, I'll call your folks.

My favorites must be the narcissus and the nostromo. The sulaco's design was cool but it felt too natural and usual, while the nostromo's design was really bizarre. The prometheus was amazing too.
I would rank them this way:
1-Narcissus
2-Nostromo
3-Prometheus
4-Aliens' dropship
5-Sulaco
6-Auriga
7-Betty
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

MemberOvomorphNov-20-2012 4:51 PMAlso, we're forgetting the derelict...that has to be my favorite by far...its biomechanical visual is just amazing. The scene in Alien where it is explored is incredibly dark and omnious...

MemberOvomorphNov-20-2012 5:37 PM@tankgirl › i really like the drop ship too, but its value goes down for me because i love the syd mead original concept so much more lol even though i guess they made the right choice, the James Cameron drop ship does go better with the "Vietnam" vibe of the marines.

@Xenomorph 54 › i kind of get what you mean about the sulaco, but i feel like sulaco was one of the first to get that kind of look. yeah there were a few before it, like Sark's carrier

but that was also designed by syd mead, so you can kind of see its just his style. after the sulaco however similar ships started popping up everywhere, notably in halo.

back to tron again...

and as for the derelict i like it but to me its less of a space ship and more of a weird alien thing, like i almost don't count it, yeah its neat and all but its more like just another one of hr gigers paintings, just this time happens to be a space ship.

MemberOvomorphNov-21-2012 4:09 AM^^ Agreed! Giger's tortured brain gave us something never seen before in any kind of spaceship design. Its general shape is undoubtedly influenced by the Xenomorph, yet great mystery remains as to the nature of some of its weird appendages.
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

MemberOvomorphNov-21-2012 12:51 PMjuggernaut i still cant work out its shape in some ways its like a claddagh ring almost like two arms one holding a bottle or a hammer the other an open palm then i look again and see i dunno squidy embryonic xenos or something its confusing and beautiful! sort of torque shaped too....
I LIKE WORMS! I LOVE WORMS!

MemberOvomorphNov-21-2012 5:10 PMsigh.... see i almost want to not count the derelict now because i didnt have it in mind when making this thread, and so now everyone is going to pick it lol but i guess i cant, it is a ship, and it is part of alien.

MemberOvomorphNov-21-2012 8:49 PMhey guys, i was just introduced to this awesome ship from aliens, its a shame its only on screen for like 5 seconds, and i always just thought it was a drop ship because it has a similar shape, but now i know its called the "gateway station shuttle" its pretty neat actually, i kind of wish they used this as the drop ship instead lol

MemberOvomorphDec-09-2012 11:29 PMI would vote for the derelict Juggernaut in the original Alien movie.
It introduces an alien ship to everyone and set up mysteries that we are still discussing now.
Everythiong about the ship was mysterious with the crew and audience not knowing what to expect or how to explain the evidence.
For a flying ship I would say Prometheus

THanks for posting the pix.
I am not sure I understand the difference between this ship and the Juggernaut in our movie.
