Watched Prometheus last night .. New Mythology?

Didn't you hear what RS and Lindy have been saying ? What is all the fuss about ? why the negativity dudes? have we not just witnessed the rebirth of our favourite movie franchise ... PROMETHEUS is a very cool movie, stunning visuals, great story, Fassbander is simply in a league of his on here ... the story is quite simple really and has been dumbed down by the writers no doubt at the request of FOX. Many of the answers are explained, before you have even have the time to work them out for yourself here ... which I found dissapointing ... You know this isn't the Star Wars saga where everything has to match up and fit together .. Scott and the writers have said from the outset what PROMETHEUS is ... It is a standalone movie, with it's own concepts, it's own thought provoking ideas ... it has 3 maybe 4 moments of breathtaking cinema that WILL leave you breathless , from the opening scene that is perfection , to David's epiphany in the Pilot room, to SHAW'S gut wrenching wide awake birth of the extreme ... I was squirming in my seat .. it really is bloody horrible, and surely this warrants and an 18 cert on it's own ... .. having watched ALIEN from a projectionist room at aged 10, the ALIEN mythology has lived with me, through all attempts to re-boot our favourite movie monster franchise ... with so many let downs with ever increasing disparity as the years ticked by ... ALIEN was a masterclass in movie making. But it's premise is simple, 10 little indians chased down to the last woman standing ... ALIENS was an action popcorn movie that was a thrilling rollercoaster ride that just got better, and better .. introducing the QUEEN to the table, but dimenshing the role of the warrior drone , implying insectoid attributes ... and hive like instincts to procreate ... ALIEN 3 had probs we know this, I still have a card somewhere with one of the inmates holding up a QUEEN FACEHUGGER that looks so good, but this was dropped to give the geater impact to the scene when Ripley is diagnosed with a QUEEN Chestburster instead ... RESSURECTION .. one word NEWBORN, let's move on ... then the dreaded AVP series ... the laws of dimenshing returns and loss of creative spark, writing genius and just loss of original direction for the franchise ... it was DEAD to me ... I fell asleep in AVP 2 ... PRED/ALIEN thingy ? OMG .... PROMETHEUS ... I nearly wrote this last night after watching it, but wanted to sleep on it and see how I felt when I woke up ... .. and now ? how do I feel ? I feel quite good actually ... I really loved the movie ... it is flawed yes , it is far from perfect yes , it isn't a classical piece yet ... but here is the word ... YET !!! You see my take on this is slightly different than most I have read to date ... The years have changed movie making so much since 1979, when Scott in his second movie scared the pants of us. Scott is now a powerhouse of a movie maker , his own production company has a credit in the production of the movie and therefore I see Scott as using his persona and movie making ability, with an agenda at play here, as well as FOX of course ... and to be honest I don't give a damn !!! using Spaights and Lindy as co-writers he brings together a storyline here of a genuine epic proportions that yes don't fit together like the Star Wars saga had too ... There is also a real dumbing down of the story and for me explanations that are unwarranted ... why is the Head there ? maybe it is their God .. Those vases , you know what ? they are waepons of mass destruction ... no way ? really ..... I know why they do this ... so peops get to understand it ;it had to get a 15 cert too so more get to watch and Facebook it and Twitter it and discuss it etc .... so yes I get that too ... What is apparent for me anyway, IMO is this ... Thank you MR Scott for yes a flawed but genuinely brilliant piece of movie-making ... re-setting the mythology and rebooting a franchise that was Dead and finished .. I am amazed that the storyline actually really works ... as a standalone option as well as fitting into the timeline of the original movie and it's concepts ... and how the story moved ... The last 10 or so minutes do tie in rather nicely ... the first facehugger perhaps , the first chestburster too ... and perhaps the original coded message to stay away ... there is danger here ... As the forums grow and stories emerge , people are already taking about a longer Directors Cut , inserting new scenes and explanations etc ... I am sure RS made sure in the cutting room that is enough footage to change the pace and integrity of the movie. I am sure we will see two versions. One will be an 18 version that will contain , swearing , as fast-paste edits pointed too last night , and without doubt more gore, as when Fifield goes ape ... quick cuts point to more bone crushing and gore ... There will definitely be a Directors Cut that will flesh out more characters with greater back story and development ... it will provide a greater understanding of the story and the NEW mythology that we have been introduced too ... There will be a PROMETHEUS 2 and maybe a 3 ... and then the peops that are going mad right now as to why this and why that ... will finally have their happy answers to plot direction w and even sub-titles that will drip-feed them these answers they need before they move onto the next ... Hey it may even fit together just like 3 and 4 of Mr Lucas saga ... God I bet these guys will love that then ... Summary. A franchise re-born, in a modern era for modern cinema in a modern time. Not everything is explained, but hey that is ok as we will get a longer cut, perhaps two if we are lucky. We will get a 2 and maybe a 3 , and that is fine by me. There are many scenes that are just perfect and worth the ticket price alone. Fassbander is surreal ... and he is already the Peter O'Toole of his generation, I get it RS, you didn't have to explain that one to me ... It is a reboot of a Mythology that was lost and is now firmly back on track and for me RS and FOX in their ultimate wisdom have together come out with a new formula for making money for many more years to come ... DVD, BLU-RAY, BLU-RAY 3D, 18 Re-Cut release, Directors Cut , PROMETHEUS 2 , PROMETHEUS 3 ... and for one who was there at the release of Bladerunner, the critics and many fans panned this on initial release ... and after the test of time with re-watches and explanations hand fed, people finally got it .. and now , hey guess what Bladerunner is a classic!!! I believe firmly and without prejudice that PROMETHEUS will do the same ... My trust and faith utterlly re-stored ... and now just booked the IMAX 3D again , can't wait ... to re-watch an artist perform, RS visions IMO are purity personafied ... The nice thing about repeat viewings is you get so much more ... and when it is RS , you can't get bored watching his flow and design especially on the biggest of screens ... I freaking love this movie already ... Oh yes , the monsters are great ! and the Engineers look incredible, almost marble-like ... like a chiseled Greek God ... Oh yes are they PROMETHEUS then ? did they steal fire from the Gods ... RS .. please when is the Director's Cut coming out ? I demand answers ... Actually i will just be trawling through this fine site for years to come ... to get what I need until then ... Thank You ! Great Forum .. long time lurker ... first time poster ...
