Have viewed mixed responses to viewings. Will post my tuppence worth from my high horse here tonight .Booked for 18:00 uk Will be scribbling 21:00 uk. I want this to be special.I hope Im not disappointed. 3 of my all time fave films are The Duellists,Alien and Blade Runner.I hope Sir RS. is on form ....more to follow...

ah, I watched Kubrik's Barry Lyndon last night. Great movie [and Ridley's visual inspiration for The Duelists].

Dolly If I hadn't of being violently aware this was Ridley Scotts work - I would not have guessed he directed it

Lol Slug good one! Never seen Barry Lyndon isnt it a bit "saucy". Duellists visually stunning in places and a beautiful slow burner....

Barry Lyndon is visually stuning. Much like a real painting of the time frame it's in [and that was the point with the visuals]. The story line is amusing, though slow paced [and glad it is that way, gives you more time to digest the visuals]. And you come to simpathise and hate some characters [the same ones, mind you], wich is a rare thing. Plus, the Sound Score is beautiful. All of the time period.
