MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:07 AMHe's said it before but he's just been on the radio and made it clear the planet in prometheus is not the same one as in the original Alien. It will be on listen again later today.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:10 AMHow long is it known that the Planet their on is LV-223? About 3 months or so?

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:13 AMjust posting because there are a lot of people still putting out theories that the planets we named wrong or perhaps reclassified at a later date by the corporation.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:15 AMIt's called denial. The first time we got a good look at the moon they land on and the juggernaut, it was obvious that they weren't the same.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:29 AM@woodshed: To me that was clear from the first pictures/trailers we've seen over half a year ago and I wouldn't have needed that official confirmation about 2 months ago when LV-223 was spotted in trailers and featurettes. But I'm really glad you brought it up again... that stubborn behaviour, immaturity and denial of facts by certain members has been doing my head in!
I'm glad that this endless discussion is finally off the table, at least I hope so, since you never know how far some are willing to go. Ha-ha! Cheers!

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:56 AMThe real question is what was the point? Why have the movie take place anywhere near lv426? It doesnt make any sense, even the fact they dont reference it in the movie makes no sense. They should have it be some totally different planetoid in some totally different star system. There is no reason at all to use lv223 if you NOT going to reference LV426.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 10:19 AMI'm one of those who apparently is stirring the pot.
I'm 52. I saw the original ALIEN in the theater at 19 in 79'. I've been waiting that long for Ridley to return to this universe. I don't need a prequel to Alien, I don't even need tie-in's if that's not the intent of this film. I'm neither stubborn, immature nor in denial. I'll appreciate the movie/story/or lack thereof, for whatever it's worth, regardless.
But... what all of you are saying is:
We have the same EXACT things happening (more or less) that happened in Alien 79', to the wrong SJ in the wrong ship on the wrong planet.
If that is the case, based on the universe we're dealing with, this movie sounds relindeloftarded.
PS. (I have to wait another week to see it due to being in the US).

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 11:28 AMMark Kermode gave it 7.5/10 - "An almost 4/5" he called it.
His biggest gripe was SOME of the dialogue - in ALIEN (for example) the crew are normal people (Space truckers) discussing small things (Pay & real food) - BUT in Prometheus, the dialogue is in reference to big subjects alot of the time... this makes our characters less "approachable"...
He also said one of the big problems are people like us - spending alot of time on sites this this and setting ourselves up for a fall... Some of us have made the film in our head alrady - go see it with an open mind -
Ridley DOES want to do another 2... this may explain the gaps in the script and narrative...

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 3:00 PMSorry it was 5 live I heard it on. Kermode was saying Ridley has said that Alien is at least 2 movies away from Prometheus, so those suggesting nice links between it an Alien are seeing things that are not there yet.
