I for one, am just another Alien/RS fanboy and I'm sat at work seriously excited for seeing this tonight. Tickets booked, best seats (was a bit keen...) but you read the flurry of comments, reviews, slander, praise etc. and I just think that no matter what they were to of done differently story-wise, character-wise, tangent-wise, somebody else would be 'devastated at Prometheus' or saying things like 'nothing was answered'. You can't really imagine what it must be like having to try to appeal to MILLIONS of people, all of which (no matter how similar) have different tastes. Even in my immediate circle of friends, I love Alien, some are lukewarm and some downright slate the film - that is just people, I'm afraid. I think to all those with negative things to say about the movie, listen to your mothers and fathers - "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" ;) I know that no matter what Prometheus is like tonight, it will be a brilliant film, in my opinion. That's just it though, MY opinion. Haters gon' hate but I think people should just enjoy it for what it is. Chill your boners people. Rant over.

Hey Derelict New to this forum. Read a lot of posts for a while now, but never commented. I agree with your comment: 'people should just enjoy it for what it is'. Maybe because there have been WAAAAAAY too many Alien comparisons so far? But the issue is: that could be said for ANY piece of entertainment. No matter how bad it ultimately is? Britney Spears' 'Crossroads'. It's rubbish? No it's not: just enjoy it for what it is! You see what i mean? And to go into any film by saying 'it will be a brilliant film' shows a tremendous bias. I, for one, hope you really find it fantastic. There's no better feeling that seeing a film you truly love. But there has been a flurry of negativity with good reason. I'm in England and i saw it at 11.40 this morning...and i left the cinema going 'hmmmmmmm'. Some elements were spectacular, others odd, other horrifying, others - and i hate to say it - downright stupid. And it really does raise a TON of questions without answering any of them coherently. I won't say people have a 'right' to moan (especially about something they could never create even if they had all the time, money and man power of Midas himself), but everyone needs to vent. That said: go see and report back to us what you thought. Always good to hear opinions! PEACE!

Hey Brightonrock, I am going to Hazard a guess you are in Brighton haha. I am currently sat 'working' at our office in Hove haha, so we're neighbours! I'm seeing it IMAX in Crawley at 9.30pm this evening and excited. I'm just one of those people that (maybe out of loyalty haha) I will love it no matter what, I just love the universe and the ideas behind it all, escapism and all that. I know what you mean though, I'm a big fan of the Predator movies, and will admit I enjoyed PREDATORS when it came out, but I watched that with a mate last night and found it just absolute shite. I'm sorry to those who will love it but the acting was poor, the story was thin and they obviously blew their budget on special effects...which actually weren't that good. I just hope that it lives up to my expectations, I mean it has a great cast, great director and a great backdrop...what could go wrong?...I just hope they don't mess that up for me. I remember the excitement when it was announced, I've been buzzing ever since and have been on this forum daily since I stumbled across it maybe 2 weeks ago. Yep, genuine sad act.

"I think people should just enjoy it for what it is." That's says everything about this film. Total FAIL.

I`m a hardcore fan of Alien and i`m not pleased. This movie is terrible terrible disaster. It`s not for intelligent public be sure of that. And my expactations was not to see xeno in Prometheus. I thought that i`ll watch very intelligent and visceral movie. Unfortunately that was not the case. Great visual feast without good plot. Irritating music score in the major scenes. Good acting but undeveloped characters. We were so wrong about this movie. Don`t judge me for my opinion. Just go and watch this movie, after that we may talk about it.

@rubinis. I can promise you I'm not one of those 'going to hate on everyone if their point of view is different to mine' I'll feed back on what I think once I've seen it but I do respect other peoples opinions and won't be in anyones face about it :) I do worry about the music though, I studied sound for television, film and game at University and I hate it when they are either using a strong score to make up for the lack of action or dialogue or they have some weak, thin score that adds no value to the texture of the scene. This could strengthen my original post, you weren't too impressed and I could come away thinking it was incredible. Who knows... :)

@unlimitedpower - I haven't seen it yet, so I made that comment in a purely speculative way. I could eat my words later haha.

Well my friends, regardless of any opinions, I still have high expectations for this film, although I've always been a little afraid they'd blew it, even if just a little... Hope not though! But I guess I'll just have to wait untill next thursday (it opens June 7th here in Portugal) ;) But I agree: take for what it is! No mater how much we love the Alien and all it's concepts, it's just a movie... If I love it I'll love it and be happy, if I don't, life will go on, that's just it :) Peace all!

no offence but you haven't seen it yet. I said it would be brilliant no matter what but IMHO it is not a good movie. I hope you enjoy it but I am not going to not say what I think because you think that I should not. It is JUST a film and I have loved every minute of the anticipation and hype. Some people have said serves you right for hyping it and not enjoying it. I am not bothered that I didnt like it, that is life. I love Alien more than any film but I didnt care if Prometheus was different or was a stand alone film I just did not enjoy it end of. I hope you all love it but I can 100percent guarantee that you will not all like it.

You can't say that nobody is going to enjoy it. Winwood just said that it was great. That is his opinion about the movie, because he watched it, but to say that your not going to enjoy it makes no sense.

I just got back from seeing it, I can honestly say I was blown away. I loved every aspect of it, I can see where people wouldn't of been satisfied, but I just loved it. Great, great film in my opinion.

Derelict, I have to wait a week to see this film and im not happy about waiting, but will only see it in the Crawley IMAX as every film ive seen in there has been incredible in terms of sound and vision. That IMAX screen is such a high standard, how all films should be seen, really lifts the big movies to another level and Prometheus will just deliver on this im sure in all ways. Probably my most anticipated film for this year.
