Hello, I totally agree with you regarding the trailers...they fooled us !!!

Yeah the hate seems exaggerated.

All I am gonna say is a lot of people laughed at me when I said Fox was probably misleading us with the trailers. *(No, I have no seen the movie yet, just commenting on how studios can and do mislead when advertising a movie.)

I have seen the movie, and what BigDave said is amazing, because while watching the movie I felt the exact same thing: the trailers have been made very smartly to...fool us. Sorry for those who yet haven't seen the movie.

i dont understand the hate... the movie was great! but some scenes were rushed yes... perhaps ridley was after the same kind of momentum that made him cut the cocoon scene in the end of alien?

why? because it wasn't a direct prequel leading to Alien? @BigDave - perhaps there is gonna be a directors cut that will flesh out and expand on the scenes? like kingdom of heaven?

Well everyone has their own oppinions, some liked AVP some never. Yes my main problem was the scenes was rushed yes, it would be like say you was watching certain things and then fell asleep for a minute during them so they never had a conclusion as good. There was a lot of build up to some things and in the trailers where you had the idea of how important some roles would be, but then to end up thinking.... erm... what was the point in them being there. Some scenes as i said just looked like if you had a 3 hour movie cut down to 2 hour 20 min one. Maybe they have extra scenes that they add on the Blue-Ray to go and milk the cow.... One scene is like when David 8 pulls out the Urn from the Fridge its basically just like the TV Spot, but links to another scene that you never really expect it to lead to. My problem was the TV Spot "Try Harder" where Vickers confronts David after he has a look at the Urn contents... This makes no sense, its as if the movie should have had another scene before that showing what Davids findings are..... why was he told to try harder, surely he must have spent more than just put some goo on his finger and report back.... oh its just black stuff. But we never saw it. It felt as i said that there was a scene between but you missed it because you went to the toilet. A lot of other stuff the build up is good, but then the actual part is rushed. ONE SPOILER TO EXPLAIN......... - - - - When they come across Milburns Body, and turn him over, something jumps out of his mouth but does not hit anyone.... we do not see where that thing goes we dont see what it was nothing.... the dont even touch up on like " Ford what the hell was that" "i dont know Janek, something must have got inside him and killed him then just flew out of his mouth" Nope nothing like that..... Another scene we see someone get killed, but we dont find out what they do with their body, so again its as if this scene plays out, and you go to the toilet and come back and we got another scene and you wonder... oh i missed the end of that, what did they do with the body... Nope nothing.... - - - - - END SPOILER I think the concept was good, the subtle links to Alien was good, the end yes you can link it to Alien but then not same place same time (you would understand when see movie) and if it was same place, then it would link directly to Alien.... only then this is not LV 426 and i think by not making the link direct means its one part that can be expanded upon and thus lead to a Prequel to Alien.... only with one missing element...... My Mrs thought it was good, some guys girlfriends in front said that was not that bad, the guys however said thats a bit disapointing. And at the end... they said.... is that all........ I dont know how Ridley says we would see Alien in a different way and make a link, only link we can find is we would go "oh... so a Prometheus 2 could link to Alien" Again its not the Alien parts that disapoint, if the movie was not based on Weyland or the Space Jockey. If it was its own movie, and the corp was Microsoft, the Derelict was a Triangle Craft the Jockey a Humaniod in a suit with a mask that looks like a conventional one or Storm Trooper... Then still the execution of the movie could had been done better.

Well, to respond to Kalypso: a lot of people think that the ones disappointed, like me, where expecting another Alien: this is not true; we were just expecting something new, different from everything we have seen before (Alien included!!!), something that would surprise, amaze us, like Alien did in its time 30 years ago (nobody was expecting this movie and it remains intemporal which is for me the mark of a very good film). We just wanted to find the emotions, the thrill Alien gave us, but I have never wanted an alien bis ! (and, there are a lot of references to Alien in this film that annoyed me a lot ! ) This movie is...flat. (in my opinion, of course...)

@kalypso Nothing to do with Alien links, i actually think they are the more polished parts of the film and they are not explained lol.... For one it was build up of certain Character in Plot that all speculation and fake screenings made interesting if bizare stories and theories about.... only those fake and speculative aproaches had far far more depth than what actually happened... Also i know i can get out of bed the wrong side, but boy i dont get as grumpy as the Engineer......... SPOILER........ ISH! Maybe when David talked to him, he got his translations wrong and actually said.... "Good morning, my name is David 8 i work for Weyland Corp, my Boss created me and he is now God, he owns this part of the universe and we are here to evict you from your home and repo your nice Space Ship" END SPOILER...... I think also the death scenes could have been done more.... To me i worry this movie was made in view that it may pass a PG-13 with some cuts and then do another cut for R... Because surely they could have done more, as Rise of the Planet of Apes was more graphic.... The movie did have 2-3 scenes that made people jump, but only those who never saw the Trailers much..... two big ones inc Milburn Face Burst and Tentacle jumping at Shaw behind the Door. My verdict.... 75/100 Better execution on the plot and more depth to characters and goings on.... i.e if this movie was 40 min longer and was used to expand the scenes through out then it would get 85/100

@crapaud Thats spot on..... Its kind of like if they tried to make Star Wars EP1-3 all fit within a 3 hour movie. Or the Lord of the Rings Trilogy fit into one 4 hour movie... They had a number of things going on, that had little or no dedication towards.

Its a shame.... But i do think there is a great story to be told and that Ridley and Fox need to take on board whats been said, take it on the chin and then fix problems with Prometheus 2.... A example of my gripe is if we take Star Wars Revenge of the Sith... If we had the last scenes done, where they take Anakins burnt body back with them..... then we see Darth Vader walking about.... Thus cutting out the scene where we see him being rebuilt and put into that mechanical suit to save his life and fix him up.... This is how many scenes apear to me in Prometheus as if there needed something more between them or at the end of them.... Some are going to like it just because Ridley Scott made it and thus anything he touches is Gold..... I loved The Thing, but i think Carpenters Ghost on Mars sucked.... Thankfully Prometheus does not suck, if it had a extra 40 min to add detail and explanations to some scenes and i am not talking the Alien links.... this would have been a masterpeice. The Plot is good 9/10, The Visuals are 9/10, the sound 8/10, the build up 9/10 but then execution after the first 3rd of the movie is a disapointment 6/10. By that its as if the plot was say a 3 hour one but movie had to be cut to 2 hours. Or say whe the script for LOR Trilogy was finished, but then as filming began they was told.... oh by the way we are doing just 1 movie and its 4-5 hours..... so then they have to shorten and cut parts of the 10 hour Trilogy to fit in 4-5 hours.

@big dave 1) try harder - didt that happen after david talked to wayland? david told what happened during the first trip to the pyramid, they found the engineers but all dead, and wayland say try harder, because he wants to talk to them and perhaps escape death... 2) melbourne - it just was the same snake thing...only exiting him... who was the other dead guy you are referring to? 3) about the angry engineer, he was first observing them, and then saw david.. made by the humans in their own image, creating life just like them.. and thats why they wanted to destroy earths life 2000 years ago, because they saw we evolved so fast and didnt like the idea about us being equal to them. but something went wrong and everybody died except the one in the movie ....so yeah...he snapped and headed for earth..

All sounds very damon lindelof a la "lost". More questions than answers. Though its hard to have too mant themes in two hours and get answers. Alien did'nt need to much to make it an interesting film. Though i've not see prometheus yet, i am getting an oppinion that maybe the movie should be just looked at as another chapter in a larger narrative as all the films are and maybe not be dissapointed if there is another movie that will round things off.

What is you are attempting to do here with all of this crap BigDave exactly can you explain it to me, you know damn well most of the people will not see this until This Thursday at Midnight so why are you being such an ass...I mean seriously I have lost any respect I night have had for you for doing this kind of thing deliberately ~ WHAT'S REALLY WRONG? Did the film challenge your ideas about where man came from? Go grow UP Man and if you asked me I'd say "Don't come back here" either !!! Your intentions were always clear to me and now to everyone else, quite clear as well.

You say i have a egotistical attempt at what sabotage this movie... Will you please explain why and how i am doing this.... What if we love the movie we are welcome to go and praise it.... If we have any critics of it, we must just keep it to ourselves.... we dont live in China mate... Sorry if i offended you but that was not my intentions. I think this is more a campaign of you against me than me against this movie.... Have i said this movie is bad......... NO! Have i said i am not happy because its got no link to Alien.......NO! My point is that the ideas they had, was very good and its just a shame that they never devoted more time to explore them, my point was i felt that the movie had a great build up untill after the 1st 3rd and then it was if they was only like 1/5th through of the story but only had 2/3rds to tell the rest of that story...
