Prometheus soundtrack

From the few clips that i watched the soundtrack seems to be mismatched with the action. I don't think the music itself is necessarily bad, but sometimes resembles Star Trek, and some times Close Encounters or the 3rd Kind.. nothing to do with the mood it is supposed to evoke.

All this whining of how bad Prometheus story and soundtrack is making me itch.

Agree the soundtrack did not fit the visuals on the screen and everyone i saw the film with shared that view i was with four other people two who were journalists and we all came to the conclusion the score was a major factor in the films tonal misrepresentation of the images we were witnessing. Sorry if that bugs a few people but its honest in its intent i want to say though the film has some great moments in there and looks amazing... pros and cons like most films these days.

I thought the soundtrack was good - it didn't match any of the trailers- but I thought it all matched ok (for me personally).

Sorry, but I do not like that 'life' motif - it IS disney-ish and twee. I initially thought HG Williams was going to do a theme to lift a (supposed) potentially weak score by Streitenfeld, but no, I am now of the complete opposite opinion. MS' atmospherics were WAY better.

I didn't really miss the ALIEN-original shrieking soundtrack they used to market this film as an Alien prequel. Which wasn't an Alien prequel, but tell that to the marketing guys, and they'd be LOST (pun intended). In retrospect, maybe OP's right but I REALLY LOVED the orchestral score, and there were some great subsonics or at least subwoofer sound effects also. :)

Totally agree. I hated the soundtrack, it was anti-climatic. A movie like this, with it's visuals, it's atmosphere and grand mythology based on the alien universe really, and I mean REALLY needed a thick, creepy, atmospheric soundtrack that transported the audience into the depths of space. I liked the classic music used when presenting David's character, that was good and Kubrick-esque. The "danger" music when the storm comes and they have to flee back to the ship was also well managed, but other than that, the "mission to mars" family soundtrack was terrible, it really ruined the climax of the visuals, I can't forgive that! Sound and music are 50% of a movie whole IMO. Too bad.
