Someone said that the Proto-Xeno (or so some call it) doesn't look Giger-ish....and I can sense some truth to that, hence why I think executive meddling was involved in the film's development, telling the team to put in a xenomorph, but as I said, I don't know for certain.
It just feels weird because we were hinted months back that we weren't going to see any xenos, or at least not the familiar xenos. Technically, this isn't a familiar-looking xeno.

It's all good. I apologize if I did appear to come off as irritated towards you; I wasn't, though maybe it was perceptible because of what I said like "Oh people can't resist putting up spoilers," and such. But this is a good community; you won't need to worry about people screaming at you or anything. (:

Reminds me of this guy, probably because of the cone-head:

@Freeze I'm sorry, I new something like this would happen, I didn't want to see this on the other forum either, but I wanted to know what the new alien looked like, and crazydave is right, you might see it differently in the theaters.

CrazyDave55811June 02, 2012
Ah yes; I saw this on Google a few hours ago. Some people just can't resist to go out of their way to put this stuff up and spoil it for everyone now, can they? Not blaming you or anything.
To be honest, I sense executive meddling. I want to believe that some suit at Fox said "Uh this is good and all but we need to have the xenomorph thrown in somewhere in this movie. And no that wall thing isn't good enough; the people want to see a xenomorph in this movie 'cause it's related to the Alien series, mmkay? So, uh, put a xeno in your movie or we're cancelling this movie. Kay thanks. (: " Of course I don't know how corporate bureaucracy works, so I guess that's just my imagination.

And I said that I saw the images on Google hours ago, long before I came to this thread. No hostilities from me or anything.
What I meant to say was that some guy took a picture in the theater and decided to put it online; people usually do it because they can.

I think we all feel that way when we run into something we shouldn't see, lest it spoils the experience. The only way I can try to alleviate your feelings regarding your recent sight is to insist that it will look and feel different when seeing it in theater......unless you're one of those Europeans who got to see it yesterday or on May 31st. >.<

DrakeequationJune 02, 2012
Whoa that thing looks strange definitely not your standard Xenomorph. Wonder what it's capable of once it's fully grown.

Supposedly it has a unique shriek, too; this was inquired about on that other Prometheus forum where I saw these pics. To be honest I'm hoping it's not that siren noise; I prefer that that noise be something made up to add suspense to the Alien & Prometheus trailers, the latter being thrown in for some nostalgic, familiar effect.

azalardJune 02, 2012
I knew it would only be a matter of time before images of the proto xeno were leaked.

RocknRollGhostJune 02, 2012
the film works and I don't get the impression that there was "executive meddling" ... I think Scott always intended to tie Prometheus into the Alien mythology. But it's not meant to answer every question. In fact, it raises more. I like that. It's a smart film and I cannot wait for the next two (?).

With DEEP sorrow I post a gif of the new alien. Also found at the other forum.

Now that I think...it's quite funny actually XDXXD!
thanks for posting the gif @Mking20

I was pissed off when I seen this in the cinema, I was hoping Ridley would stay true to the egg morphing theory or at the very least biomechanoids.

MAJJune 02, 2012
I think that it looks ridiculous as compared to the xeno. Perhaps the entire movie is ridiculous.

FREEZE!June 02, 2012
oh dear, that thing looks badass!

Not sure if Proto-alien is truly terrifying or just making me uncomfortable.
PlaymakerJune 03, 2012
This was my least favorite part of the movie. Felt totally tacked on and made me think someone was pandering to Alien fans.

CustodianJune 03, 2012
for me, the (perfect) ending had ALREADY HAPPENED ... then they come up with this nonsense.
Sorry, I'm trying to avoid the term SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENTS.
I mean, the film already establishes that IT'S NOT AN ALIEN PREQUEL, not even the same planet.
Anyway, Ridley Scott'll get rid of this crap in his (inevitable) Director's Cut.

FrantzJune 03, 2012
Because we want to see it as a protoalien ...maybe is just an indication of the terrible "plague " that have hit the SJ base ....the black goo is totally out of control and create genetic monsters at every stage .
DarthSpockJune 03, 2012
Not to come off the wrong way, but I'm now betting that I won't even have to go see the movie, this upcoming Friday.
It'll be here, in HD. The whole thing. You "spoilers" are unbelievable...
...I know, we're warned anyway...
However, I have a feeling that this proto-xeno will be the catalyst for the sequel. No doubt Weyland, or Weyland/Yatani will want something for the disaster that just occured. They'll run across this thing in the sequel, and maybe the real nasty, Gigerish hell will be unleashed. And Ridley's original idea of the true lifecycle will begin/be shown. Hopefully, it'll get an "AO" or NC-17 rating. Turn it up a knotch...!
NoXWordJune 03, 2012
Even though this has been called a precursor or proto-alien, I don't think that it actually is. It's more like a mutation from the known pattern, given the way it was bred.
The original alien appears to be far older than this one, so this is more of an evolution (human generated facehugger impregnates an engineer = this).
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.
HarpGuyJune 03, 2012
The odd thing about this one, though, is that it comes out fully grown. No chestburster phase, it just claws its way out. I'm not sure what it means, but it seems a bit different...
robbo24June 03, 2012
i think it looks great, this will be one of the first new type of xeno-creatures that no doubt will be in the sequel, when they go to the space- jockeys homeworld. this movie has so many great moments dont understand the negative reviews i enjoyed it in my opinion

Star Beast of CthulhuJune 03, 2012
I haven't seen the movie yet, but being that there is a mural of the Starbeast before the proto-Xeno appears (I assume) I think that they existed before whatever causes the proto to appear, and the true Starbeast's form is already decided. Perhaps the proto-Xeno is only circumstance.

Shaw's_sweet_babyJune 03, 2012
I would really have liked to see this one cahsing Shaw in the med pod...

CustodianJune 03, 2012
that animated gif on page 2 is a really disturbing piece of cine - I don't remember it being that gruesome
weird

CrazyDave55811June 03, 2012
Ah yes and I was about to post the .GIF of it but then Mking20 beat me to it. lol
To be honest, I once had a dream like that. I was trying to let something out of my mouth (not sure if regurgitating), and it was something akin to whatever it is that the proto-Xeno reveals.
