Hey gang,
I was at a screening of Prometheus Thursday for film critics and a group who saw it had a discussion afterwards about where the movie goes from here. According to one insider, who says he knew a person involved in the film's making, there was originally a plot point for Prometheus that dealt with one of the Engineers being a scout who was sent to Earth 2,000 years ago...Jesus Christ. (If you'll remember, for those who saw the film, they carbon date one of the Engineers and it was 2,000 years ago when it died.) Essentially, human beings turned on the Engineer and killed him, and so the other Engineers decided that Earth needed to be destroyed, sort of how a scientist would put down an animal if it attacked a co-worker. Their motivation is somewhat vengeful, a punishment from our Creator if you will.
So this could be part of what we see in the sequel, with Shaw having to find a way to convince the Engineers we are worthy of existing. If so, what do you think of the idea? I had a friend say it was total sacrilege, but to me it's a bold idea worth exploring.
What would you like to see happen in the sequel?
