The American Storm

The High Priest
MemberOvomorphJune 03, 20121113 Views16 RepliesJust wondering if this sites servers will be able to handle the incoming storm/tsunami once our American friends see Prometheus??
Cant wait for this tidal wave of feedback heading this way!

Yep, Maybe They should add a "Prometheus Reviews- (Hate and War)" Section.
I saw Alien when I was 13 years old... And it scared the shit out of me... 30 years after, i lmao with this prequel.
Thanks for the review, i totally agree with you on all the points.
I honestly do not understand why Ridley Scott accepted such a lousy scenario, full of holes and unconsistencies.
Maybe the director's cut will explain a lot more than the 2 hrs screening.

Are you implying that Americans have a different mindset from that of the rest of the world? Because clearly most people on this site liked the movie so far and I don't really think that is going to change once America gets to see it.
Please, correct me if I have misinterpreted your writing but I know you have been posting a lot of negative comments and threads on this movie already.
June 03, 2012
No dude. It seems all negative messages are been pulled down. The thread posted by db on good or bad for prometheus was massivley outweighed with BAD.
Im sure this will be pulled down so you probably wont get my comment.
But in answer to your question -I dont think Americans have a different mindset - I think they will feel as ripped off as the rest of the intelligent and passionate movie lovers who have frequented this forum for many months.
June 03, 2012
If honestly think it is a big mistake not to have chosen the same release date.
It is very frustrating to the us fans, as they already have all the information about the film content and reviews before seeing it.
And I'm not speaking about this only site. The FB page of prometheus is already full of comments (and they have the honesty to leave all the comments, even the bad ones).
June 03, 2012
Pulled down huh .... 87% of people on Rotten Tomatoes liked it ...
And you define yourself an Intelligent and passionate movie lover ,,,the others are not so intelligent like you right ?? Thats pathetic .

"No dude. It seems all negative messages are been pulled down"
The thing about all the negative crituque and reviews is that they are mostly saying the same thing and airing the same concerns about the film. The mods seem to be getting vexed about the similarity in the comments. But that just tells me that the concerns are well founded. If people have the same issues with this film then there is clearly something in that. I mean we're not just on here complaining about this film because we want to upset people that liked it or have nothing better to do. We are genuinely gutted about how this turned out. Personally I can do nothing else but talk to people about it to get this off my chest. I'm literally gutted.

"87% of people on Rotten Tomatoes liked it"
I'm amazed it's that high! I don't frequent Rotten Tomatoes very often. I don't know what the significance of that score is. I'm going to check out some other films to see what scores they got.
June 03, 2012
Well I am also very intrigued about such a high score. We have to wait for the release in the U.S. to see if that rating will last or not
June 03, 2012
this forum's already suffering under the strain ... when the TSUNAMI of opinion from the Corporate Consumerist Masses hits, god only knows how long it'll last.
:)
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

Frantz - Pretty much everything I say YOU misinterpret.
Please dont start making personal cheap shots over it.
Just agree to disagree because we are clearly polar opposite human beings. I would imagine this is reflected in pretty much everything about us.
Films we like, music, girls, politics, religion.
It is clear that we are completely incompatible human beings on an almost cellular level.
Just try and stay away from my posts - Your basic responses really jar.
no offence......

"Pulled down huh .... 87% of people on Rotten Tomatoes liked it ..."
You are aware this is just an argument from polularity which bears no reflection of whether the criticisms levelled at Prometheus are valid?
Rotten Tomatoes is essentially a yes/no system - fresh/rotten.
Even a positive (fresh) review can actually give a score of 3/5! Many positive reviews identify the same faults over and over again. These are obvious to even a lay person.
Wny don't you engage with the issues raised and explain specifically why you think they are wrong......

@The high priest
You're basically saying that if you're intelligent and a passionate movie lover you will dislike this movie. Why? Because it wasn't a direct link to Alien and left you with a lot of questions? RS stated that it wouldn't be a direct prequel, and that it could be watched as a stand-alone movie (in the Alien universe). I liked the movie. Does that make me dumb?
Besides you're judging Frantz' taste in films, music, girls, politics and his religious view based on a forum comment? This doesn't make you look so intelligent...
On topic: I doubt the servers will crash but i look forward to hearing more opinions on plots and plotholes in the movie when the Americans watch it
June 03, 2012
@Black Dog
No dude - I am not saying that.
There are intelligent and passionate movie lovers who will dislike the movie and vice- versa.
I am just refering to the ones who dislike it...
because thats the side of the glass I am on.
And also please dont be so simple minded to think I am making my comment towards Frantz based on this one thread - Frantz has been on my case now for the last two days and there have been many exchanges.
Thats what I have based that statement on. Over our MULTIPLE exchanges it has become quite obvious that our opinions and views clash....Severely.
June 03, 2012
And since they clash they will continue to clash until you step down from being in a "rage voyeuristic" mode and become an "harsh critic" of the movie ...those are two totally different things .
BTW its not only 87% of people that give a positive review ...but is also the 80% of critics that give a positive one
June 03, 2012
@The high priest
Glad to hear that.
Regarding Frantz, I figured as much as you two have had some discussions, but I still find it simple minded to judge an unknown person based on your internet meeting with him/her.
And btw, 5000+ users have given the movie a 8.3 average rating on imdb ;)

The High Priest....might I infer a slight disturbance in your psychological force? Name your top 5 sci fi films please. Bring me up to speed on why your so upset with Prometheus vs other films. The real attraction of Alien was having 90% unanswered questions, a few seconds of Alien face time and breaking scientific protocols. It was also rather short with cryptic dialogue. Reviews were bad and most pseudo-intellectuals disregarded it as juvenile and irelevant. Seems Prometheus may actually be a better film based on facts. I will see it twice this weekend. For me, 2001 is the ultimate cerebral trip. Alien is a horror movie. Judgement should be made accordingly.
