UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

Second time I saw it I realised why. The film tries to do too much in the 2 hours. So we end up with a lot of unanswered questions:
1. CREATION OF HUMANS
Alien fans like myself go into the film after years of curiosity about the Space Jockeys. We find that they have our DNA (so effectively created us) but there is not much back story on how, why, when etc so it leaves us asking more questions than when we started. In fact these questions are still being asked at the end of the film which points to the sequel annoyingly, so we found out nothing from the actual film with regards to this. Despite all the marketing about cave drawings etc which hinted we would get some story about this.
Also I guess its a bit annoying we don't find out why they wanted to kill humans. Can forgive them for wanting to leave that for a sequel though.
2. XENOMORPH PAINTING
We see the Space Jockeys (presumably) have created a temple with a massive Xenomorph painting on the wall. Why was this on the wall? Were they worshiping the Xenos? This would seem weird if they created them.
3. PROTO XENO FINAL SCENE
The last scene has what looks like a proto-Xeno being born. Either that, or a different type of Xeno due to the strange way it was born. Human - Large Squid Facehugger - Space Jockey. I was just left confused as to why it was different to the other Xenos.
If it was an earlier evolved one before the Xenos we know evolved, then the painting in the temple wont make sense as they wont have existed yet.
If it was a different type, then as it hatched from a Space Jockey, surely it doesn't link into the first ALIEN film at all because we can assume from there that an orginal Xeno hatched from the Space Jockey - as it was the same egg chamber which got Kane!
Can somebody please explain this to me!
4. WHAT THE DNA IN THE CONTAINERS IS, AND WHAT IT DOES?
The temple has a sort of Pandoras box feel about it. Humans go in, change the atmosphere and the DNA starts evolving and causing havoc. A nice idea in the script. But, what most Alien fans wanted to know, is HOW THIS DNA EVENTUALLY BECOMES THE XENOS (due to the picture on the wall)? What we are left with is the following strange sequence of events:
- DNA which turns Holloway and Fifield into weird beings that want to attack Humans and reproduce facehuggers not humans. Why? These 2 things aren't really explained in the film?!?!
- The DNA evolves in the temple into what appears to be a snake like version of the facehugger. OK so this is not an alien film as such and I'm glad there are no traditional facehuggers in there. But the thing goes into Milburns mouth presumably to impregnate him, but we don't get to see what it impregnates him with?
- How the DNA ended up becoming a squid inside of Shaw?
- Why the squid became way larger than the original facehuggers if we can assume that it was born from the same DNA?
5.WHAT THE SPACE JOCKEYS WERE RUNNING AWAY FROM?
We can assume it was Xenos from the final scene were a proto Xeno popped out of a space jockey. But this is not really explained or confirmed either which I found immensely frustrating.
6. WHY THEY CREATED THE XENOS?
Again, annoyingly unanswered.
So in summary, the film spends 2 hours hinting at these questions but actually gives very little answers.
1. The creation of humans
2. The intentions and life of the space jockeys
3. The creation of Xenos after the whole film is hinting at this
It does still have good suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I think if it was a bit longer and more detailed it would have been better.
The first Alien, everyone knows what is going on the whole time.
Another of my favorite Sci Fi Alien films, The Thing, dedicates a lot of screen time to explaining the story so people know what is going on!
Prometheus fails to do that.
