Why I loved Prometheus

Now these people are obviously entitled to their opinion, and I don't think that Prometheus was a perfect film at all. However this is the way I see it:
1) Prometheus was an epic film. Truly epic. The scale, the scope and the design was brilliant (I can't wait to rewatch it in the IMAX in 3D) - Giger's designs were really channelled into it. It felt like CGI was not being used as a substitute for reality, but instead as an art form of its own.
2) Forgetting about the plot, everything to me was easily 10/10 - the acting (especially Fassbender!), the soundtrack and the cinematography was amazing. It was no less grand than R.S.'s other films, and reflected a project he obviously had put his heart into.
3) The plot itself. Okay, I felt that at times it was a bit rushed and muddled, and my main point of contention was that no one seemed particularly fussed that these were not only ALIENS but the engineers of HUMANITY. And after Shaw performed the self-abortion, no one really seemed to care. Despite things like that, the plot allowed for some seriously awesome moments, such as the above mentioned abortion scene and the whole build-up to the first contact.
I just feel that sometimes people (probably no one who already has an account on these forums) assume that films like these are a dime a dozen, and don't realise that there really are no films remotely similar to this. Alien was a completely different beast, opting for claustrophobic horror rather than grand sweeping terror. I feel like Prometheus was no less than a cultural achievement. Just my two cents.
