....nodody out their could have possible written a script that would have pleased all the fans....whether it's writing or directing....nothing anyone could have done could have pleased all the fan boys....it's simply impossible!....so like it or leave it....Prometheus is what it is....

I cant believe this movie got bad reviews. Sign of the internet times ? Ridley clearly takes the limited script of aliens (and directing of 3d movies) up on to another level entirely and its slated.

You are right. It is just one bad movie. He is genius and i like more of his stuff. But i`m dissapointed because he mislead us that this movie is really good.

..the fanboys should get a room with the Xeno...then they can lick that smooth phallic head all night long....Prometheus is not about Xeno's...seriously and everyone is crying cause the xeno in the end does not look like their beloved creature....but it's not suppose to....WTF?.....Prometheus is intelligent it is set in juxtaposed mystery and plain old vintage sci-fi star trek....if it explained to much it would just become another sci-fi flick...another modern boring one....i love that it is polarizing critics and fans...it's not avatar or Aliens...this movie actually challenges it's viewers!

"hands up if we know anyone who can do a better job." James Cameron? The proof is in the pudding and Cameron now has a better pedigree then Scott. It's clear to me now. Alien and Blade Runner were flukes. A coming together of all the required ingredients at just the right time. It's not something, I now understand, can really be planned or manufactured. This is what I have learned from Ridely Scott's Prometheus.

this film is a good sci fi yarn ,god knows what people expect. in 2 years time it will be regarded as one of his best. its his story , and we have paid to see it. it makes me laugh how so many people on here are so full of self importance that they feel the have a final view on the film . its a film,its entertainment ,get a life :)

A case of expecting too much i think. Ridley Scott is a director who specializes in co-ordinating people and systems of production to get a story across with impact and depth, not a lone writing visionary that can figure out life the universe and everything AND direct it. Is there any one person capable of all that ? Ridley has surpassed all his previous works, producing the otherword 3d feel (you did see it in 3d didnt you ?) like this, while remaining consistent with what the original aliens is about, and progressing it intellectually as much as can be done for just now. Its not lost in space, or star trek but as realistic an immersion trip into the dark side of life which Ridley specializes in.

Prometheus summary: Holloway: Wooooooooooh yeah baby! - (This guy is actually a scientist) Fifield: These are my puppies aaaoooooooooooooooh! (The geologist in the film) Engineer; *blows a flute* (Our creators, who remained unexplained, and they have flutes)

...i would'nt mind Cameron doing a sequel....even better if Ridley and Cameron collaborated...i still prefer Aliens to Alien....but it would be curious to see what they can do together!

db73 you are right Ridley al;ways confessed to outer forces making his film a better picture as early as The Duellists. this is one reason I am doubtful of a blade runner sequel, because blade runner had a little bit of unplanned movie magic. all the forces in the universe did align for that picture I illustrate for a living and the pictures i think will turn out good, don't and what I think are failures do work

...trouble is that ridley is rather old and he's already committed himself to several other projects....So i would be fine if Cameron took over after his Avatar prequels....(assuming they are prequels...sam had his twin brother and Sigourney is rumored to star again...so it's save to say it's gonna be prequels)....still would love to see these 2 directors collaborate....can you imagine!

Who were all 17 of the crew members? Nothing like character depth and continuity. Unfortunate for RS I dont have the memory and attention span of a goldfish.

Would have been nice to know exactly what happened to make Fifield turn out the way he did. What was the black stuff again? Holloway got burned before we even saw what was going to happen to him. This thread is bang on. This is clearly a multi faceted high art piece which possesses subtle yet meaningful nuances and insights which will only be revealed to those who have superior reasoning ability and who keep the faith.

Prometheus had 17 crew members. Most just vanished and whay where they there? It was a poor teen movie, lets admit it. BTW Cameron is not my favorite director, but he can save this franchise, it cant get any worse can it?

Nice to see Davids head works fine after being decapitated. I bet Ash in Alien wished he was as well put together, I guess by that time they did not make Androids like they used to....

Only those with sensibility are going to understand the extra depth he innovated, and there is a hint at a new level of looking at the politics of life in movies thats taken the meeting sections in 2001 a space oddesy a step further (see that first to get the end of this film). And what is the other race ? Are they just military grunts with a large grant playing around and represent a fraction of a completely complex civilization ? it appears like simple people are not seeing whats opened up in here. Give cameron a film and he just closes it down. As for the spectacle of art, go and see it in 3d at the very least or you arent going to get what has been achieved here. The next version will be a frank herbert, dave lynch style piece i hope. Please not cameron.

Actually I was being saracastic - it is a turd. Although in fairness its been polished to the point where it is shiny and you can see your face in it.

What I did expect was a movie where every character had some depth, and maybe not even everything explained and tied up in a nice neat bow. Obviously that would be boring and then would leave nothing open for a sequel. But so much was left unexplained, that it was not even a story. The ending was worse than the pred alien scene in AVP. It was just a terrible movie. What i got was at least 8 crew members disappearing from the script, a muddled story that was neither an Alien prequel (which I was not expecting anyway) or a stand alone movie worthy of any kind of franchise of its own. It was neither here nor there. It was so full of cheese...The flute!? The geologist howling like a wolf? Janek making a guess at what was going on, and then deciding to sacrifice himself based on an assumption? Taking his co-pilot and navigator with him, and then before crashing into the Alien ship, asking them to raise their hands up, as if it was a rollercoaster ride!!!? Pathetic! If I did not know who was in charge, I would never have put Ridley Scotts name to it. I have been a big fan of Ridley Scott until now. I am not going to say I enjoyed something when I did'nt, despite who made the movie.

I hear what you're saying Rubinis its not up to me to tell people how or what to think, I sometimes like to question what other people say but the real truth is that even though its no masterpiece, it really isn't bad either, there is real rubbish out there on the screen and this doesn't belong amongst that category. we do have high expectations I'll be honest I really enjoyed it I stopped looking at the site when spoilers appeared because I didn't want to spoil the surprise come back to the film in a month and see if it really is as bad as you think it is, but if your opinion is still the same then I respect that

Tbe only thing I know is that Bova Fett woulf make alot of money chasing bountys in the Alien/Promethues universe.
