Wow, that pottery is as good as anything in Lord of the Rings.
But I take it you're suggesting the film is a zero-five, a love it or hate it.
Those who expect a decent story, decent dialogue, believable character motivations, fair pacing, a minimal respect for basic science and genuine philosophical speculation hate it.
Those who want visual spectacle and can turn their brains off at the door love it. Cause it rocks, like. And its got every cliche imaginable piled on in almost random order.
It's not entirely unfair to expect a little of both.

nysalor:
i loved prometheus because it has great acting, it has real scary concepts, it offers an insight in to a fascinating (albeit scary) culture of self-reference, arrogance, moral decay and biological perversion AND it ties this alien culture nicely in with the world of the real (our world) and our species who is created in the image of these engineers.
I've never liked a movie only for its visual marvels.
As for pacing and character motivation and cerebral challenges. Yes the pacing is different from Alien (which i also love), character motivation is fascinating in Prometheus particularly Davids fledgeling soul and its reaction to its makers....it is the single most interesting character potrayal in all of the alien-related franchise. When it comes to cerebral challenges Alien had almost none...Prometheus has a plethora.
