Before I begin I want to let everybody know that I have not watched the film yet. But from what I hear of it, through your threads, the official reviews of the film, and the short clips all over the web. I think that I can relate my thoughts and opinions about the meaning of the movie. To begin I heard that at the end of the film. Shaw takes Davids head and decides to go the Engineers home planet.  Now why is she heading there for? Is she going to nuke the planet. No, she wants to know about the engineers and there reason for terraforming planets. She wants to know why they created the human species. Or if anything helped the human race evolve in one way or another. She wants answers to the questions that the human race has always wanted to know.   I think that in the sequal to Prometheus we are going to find out that there is a difference between what we know as the engineers, and the space jockey we saw sitting down behind the cannon in Alien. The being behind the cannon is bigger then the engineers in the film. Like I said before I did not see the film, but from what I see of the engineers, who are very tall themselves. But are still smaller then the original space jockey. The original one is not only taller but thicker, wider in the shoulders, and bulkier. The reason the engineers wear those elephantine masks is honor of the space jockey race. They wear those masks because in actuality that is how the space jockey look like. I really do think that the engineers are some how experiments themselves of the space jockey race. For example in Alien when Kane, Lambert, and Dallas find then space jockey they comment that it is fossilized  and probably been dead a long time. Which makes sense. When they approach the SJ we see that something came out of its chest, which we think must of been a Xenomorph. And if you look at the head, it does not look like a mask. It looks like a real head on a creature which has a long nose, or breathing organ which looks to be physically attached to his own chest. Also there is a holgram shown of various engineers running away from something. What were they running away from? Xenomorphs, other engineers, or maybe the race of space jockeys. I had to post this because I feel that there is something in front of us that we are not picking up. Even now I am looking at Alien on my ipad, and the creature (SJ) looks amazing.   I also know that there is a scene were a young engineer is shown about to sacrifice himself to spread his DNA. Then at the sane time there is a saucer hovering over head. Who the hell is in that saucer. We all know that the engineers in Prometheus used the horse shoe ship as transportaton. But dont you think that maybe the true space jockeys were in that ship, and Ridley has all this waiting for us in the sequal.  I just think that there is something right in front of us, and we just cant see it.

Who the hell is in that saucer. We all know that the engineers in Prometheus used the horse shoe ship as transportaton. Different ships for different missions? and there are supposedly tens of thousands of years between the first Space Jockey we see in Prometheus, and the horse shoe shape ones, so perhaps their ship technology also changed. I'm more inclined to guess that the horse shoe shape are part of a fleet built for wiping out life, unlike the first scene were a planet is seeded with life, by the sacrifice of one Space Jockey.

The idea behind 'smaller' and 'bigger' space jockeys is almost as ridiculous as 'smaller' and 'bigger' predators fighting each other (one even collaborating with humans). It's small scale thinking, human-like thinking. Who will finally transcend this BS and bring us a real sci-fi movie again? Having said that, the big hovering ship was my favourite scene and one of the few really good ones. I am still sort of curious about it. But many bridges I'm afraid have already been burnt.

I believe the engineers and the space jockeys are one in the same. The fact they are slightly taller is just because in the original alien he never planned on having to actually bring them to life. It is quite clear to me that what you saw in the original is a fossilized engineer. Explanations could be age, or just the difference in genetics as I am over a foot taller then my mother and father. I also believe making another movie with another race may be a touch silly. Then do we see a reveal of the makers makers makers. I believe the point of this movie is engineers plus black goo equals beginnings of life. What is interesting is what made or discovered what, the goo or the engineers. My guess is the engineers created the goo.

I agree with you @Socrates. I don't expect the director or writers to include any other potential life forms in the sequal you have to explain one, before moving on to the other. Also do me a big favor takka_takka_cacccca, grow up. I was at least honest and admitted that I had not watched Prometheus yet,

@ Rubirosa I was not going to say anything but I noticed this in many of your posts. I am doing this with the best possible intentions. It is "sequel" not "sequal". Not trying to be a dick, just thought I would point that out. I know what you're thinking:
