MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 1:39 PMOn imdb says ... The "beginning of time" sequence that opens the film was shot in Iceland. The whole shoot took two weeks to complete. ( on every site says that it lasts 15 min ... How long is it really ?

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 1:44 PMAbout 5 minutes if that, but it's not clear whether this was earth or another planet!

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 1:48 PMIt's not a beginning of time sequence, it's flying over the landscape from the spaceship point of view, til it reaches the waterfalls.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 1:49 PMI think it's supposed to be the seeding of Earth in the beginning. Seeing how they show the engineers DNA break down and then reform itself as he disintegrates into the water and it spreads. I thought the opening sequence was awesome really/

MemberDeaconJun-06-2012 2:09 PMRidley Scott has thrown in some curve ball....
As he said in his last interview that the scene shows how Engineers Sacrefice themselves to create life....
And that the planet does not have to be Earth.... so again more ambiguity.
He also hinted they wanted us dead 2000 years ago because of something we may have done to one of their own..... and kind of made a vague connection with the Sacrefice of Christ....
lol hope he is not claiming that Jesus was a Engineer and we killed him so thats why they wanted to kill us?

I read that same artical, I'm glad he did not have that scene put in the movie, I'd think it would have been terrible, the scene that is.... besides it was not the whole human race that kill Jesus, just the non believers of Jesus, why destroy an entire race over the actions of a few hundred, kinda pointless imo
If there is a sequel to this, it'll will most likely explain why the eng wanted to wipe us out then.....
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 4:42 PMOther sequences in addition to the waterfall (Dettifoss) were shot in Iceland. Most of the cast made the trip. Many of the outside scenes were shot in Iceland. If you've ever been there it looks like another planet. When the team is getting in and out of the vehicles at the temple. When Shaw is heading back to the Prometheus on her own, and the ground is opening up underneath her. Also, the scene where Shaw and Vickers are running from the falling debris.

MemberOvomorphSep-17-2012 10:34 PMI agree Jesus was killed by the Jews and not by the entire human race.
