dim-wit question

I know that the awakened engineer did some serious damage but is it everybody's opinion that they are hell bent on destroying all of mankind. I am not quite so sure. Ignoring the earth seeding theory - which I am still not 100 percent with If they did visit earth around 30,000 years ago and the cave paintings resulted from those visits why would they want to erase us away 2000 years ago and now (or Prometheus time) when we finally found them. Last dim-wit question if the engineers are so aggressive and advanced why does the Engineer ship that P collides with not have any weapons or shields to protect it? Quite honestly I am mystified The saucer at the beginning was clearly a more advanced craft than the bone ship - might it have contained a different more highly evolved species just using engineers for purposes still unclear to me. The whole story could go in a thousand directions - which is why I love it

Very nice thought. Although, I see the bone ship as a cargo transporter, while the sauce type ship could be something like a home for thousands of them. If it turns out to be a different species, it can go anywhere as you said.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but based on the spoilers I've read and what I know of the original "Alien" storyline (that Ridley seems to be drawing from somewhat) I'm thinking there are two (or more) different Engineer groups that are at war with each other. We were probably created by one side (for some reason - another biological weapon, perhaps to be able to create the facehuggers/xenos from the black goo?) but encountered the other side on LV-226, were recognized as creations of the other side, and therefore needed to be eliminated.

@asgardian Yep I guess the bone ship was carrying a very nasty cargo and lots of it from the hologram map of it - so I'll go with that - however it can still go interstellar if Shaw and David's speedy departure was anything to go by - but we don't know what ship they left in - and wont ever unless a prequel!

@darthmongo Yet another good theory of where this all can lead. The more we all think about, there's endless possibilitys to carry on the franchise, there's endless ways to go from here. Maybe that was the masterplan, if so, the set up in this movie was perfect. I so hope we get another one or two.

Nope, that's a really good question.
