flying saucers on ancient artefacts

but Prometheus has re-ignited my interest in the theory of ancient alien visitations.
Found this link
http://aliendigest.com/2012/07/28/mayan-tablets-released-by-mexican-government/
Some of the images definitely show ringed planets (surely they had no telescopes in those days) and more contentiously flying saucers (or things like them) abound.
The mexican gov recently released some more of these tablets
Opinions?

it's not just the Mayans: starmaps from all over world point to Ra Circumpunct.

yeah, Ancient Aliens and stuff like that are fascinating stuff.

Yes it would be fascinating if there was actual solid proof for those types of claims of ancient aliens.
I can't take shit like this seriously when you have idiots like Alex Jones and Lloyd Pye who make hysterical claims about ancient aliens with no educational backgrounds whatsoever.

I fully understand anyone's fascination with the possibility "Ancient Aliens" but here's my issue with what's presented on that linked page and the 12 min. + video...
It is speculation and pseudo-science at best. Official dates for the "Mayan Tablets" are never given and the only thing that is suggested is that aliens are lurking around in the past, present, and/or future and *something* (we don't know what) is going to happen, probably with the sun. The "please infer Mayan Doom" message is very upsetting to me. And, on top of all that, the "soundtrack" then involves the lyrics "Maybe I should cry for help. Maybe I should kill myself." This is an abomination.
There are already young children who are afraid of the Mayan Doom message who write/post things implying that they might take their own lives so as not to suffer the "end of the world" that certain opportunistic adults are using to create an unforgivable fear factor surrounding December of this year.

People are even planning on killing their PETS over this kind of insanity.
There is NO scientific evidence of any astronomical event that is going to destroy the earth in December. Just as there is no scientific evidence of xenos, Predators, or Engineers. All of this is a FICTION about which we can theorize and fantasize to our heart's content, but when we begin to believe it and discuss it (or even ACT on it) in ways that it affects the lives of children and FRIGHTENS them, we're going too far.
WAY. Too. Far.

I watched the 4th season of Ancient Aliens on the History channel awhile back. One particular episode discussed the Mayan’s culture, clay tablets and their calender. What I found interesting was the newly discovered clay tablet found concealed in one of the their temple walls. As interpreted it states that 9 God like beings will descend from the heavens. A deteriorated statue was also found in the plaza of several temples that also indicated the same message, but part of the statue had fallen apart over time, but the newly discovered writings clarified what the statue was stating. I’m not sure if the 9 beings descending from the heavens happens on 12-21-12. I do know that the Mayan 12-21-12 prediction has upset my Grandsons, and from time to time they ask me what are we going to do Grampa....?, my best answer is there is nothing to worry about..... I just hope I’m right!
I should reach the frontier in about 6 weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo....

for a science fiction story is well but in real life is like this...

besides UFO means unidentified flying object so if someone says they are extraterrestrial vehicles Where is the proof? Who makes fantastic claims has the burden of proof.

1.....i do not ascribe to the mayan calendar 2012 prophecies
2.....i would not tell young children about them
3.....i merely pointed out that
a) there is a ringed globe on several of the tablets - what else but a planet with rings could this represent?
b) there are many disc shaped objects on these tablets which are clearly symbolising something important - can you suggest what else but
some kind of aerial craft - they might be?
4.....these tablets maybe all fake for all i know - but i do doubt that
5.....i do know what UFO stands for - and when i was 12 years old I observed 7 in a v shaped formation silently go over my house at night
I still am not sure what to believe and probably never will - but many of you seem to have made up your minds. I like to keep an open mind - seems to make life a little more interesting.
Blessings to all

@sukkal
Yes that is sad, but also many killed themselves for believing that Jesus had returned in the USA a long while back.
There are many still upset by the Bible and the End Times in Revelation that they are now turning into Christians and some Extreme Christians.
End of the day the proof in the pudding.... what happened to the so called End of World 2000? What about when Jesus returns and the Rapture in May 2011.
None happened, so the only way to find out what will happen on that Mayan End Date is after that date, if we are all here by January 2013 with no major changes to Earth then we can assume there was nothing to worry about.
Anyway that Mayan date is not the end of the world but the end of the current cycle. The World is not born on January 1st and Ends December 31st its just the start of one cycle (year) and the end of that cycle (year)
As far as the whole Ancient Aliens, well its food for thought there is a lot of findings that can seem to point to such things, but also holes. But the same goes for Religion and even Science.
Science has the advantage/excuse that if they made mistakes and screwed up, then it dont matter because latter findings that prove their early ones wrong are just progression of Science.
End of the day there has been no SOLID PROOF that would 100% Prove or Disprove either....

@skuaimages the real open mind is the mind of a skeptic why? because they are not closed to any of the possibilities.
For example, the extraterrestrial theory for the UFO phenomenon is one of many, even one of the more easiest as a sort of occam's razor. In fact there are many other possibilities such as: Fakes, atmospheric phenomena, electromagnetic phenomena, pareidolia, astronomical and geophysical phenomena, human vehicles, etc.
The world of pseudoscience and pseudo-history is full of amazing performances but are not supported by empirical evidence, after all, not everything that shines in the sky is a juggernaut.

I think Betterthanbrew has hit the nail on the head with regards any discussions like this, particularly
“… hysterical claims about ancient aliens without no educational backgrounds whatsoever.”
This got me thinking on the line of Shambhala’s point about the burden of proof, and Big Dave’s point about SOLID PROOF. This does lead to one very important question, How?
How do you really go about proving that an ancient artefact has come from off-world. I’m not even calling it alien at this point. Does this mean you need someone who is educated in such matters. If you find someone who claims to be educated in such matters, then how on earth did they achieve such a qualification if the artefacts you want examining are one of a kind. The reality is that there is no one whatsoever on this entire planet that has qualifications to validate artefacts of alien origin beyond any shadow of doubt. Qualifications are built upon established facts, and theories tend to be accepted through the cross referencing of established facts ( I’m thinking someone may want to blow a big hole in my argument at this point by quoting some mathematicians).
I realise that there are individuals out there who like to pay for the letters after their name, and pretend to be experts on UFO’s. Maybe those individuals should realise that those qualifications hold no weight at all. They would be better off reading sites like this where some real fact based discussions take place.
All the best folks

There is the potential yes, and that theory does seem to tie in a lot of lose ends from Religion and Science and Evolution.
But as for beings from space in our history how do you prove it with out any actual bodies or remains. Nowadays we can take a photo of someone or something and yes they can be faked or photo shopped to alter them.
But years ago before that medium you could carve a image of someone or paint or draw it, but you could exaggerate things in those images they are a persons portrayal of what they saw and so not exactly what they seen.
There is a lot of Mystery
Then i always go by proof for oneself... you see anyone of you could have seen a Ghost, but until i seen one for myself, then its not 100% proof to me the word or even images taken by others of such a matter.
Have i seen strange things in the skies... yes i have video of a few but they are not conclusive enough for me to say 100% i got a UFO on camera.
The only time i really saw something really odd, but never got on camera and a time when it stood out was a Triangle Shaped UFO.... but again while i saw this i did not see any little green men and it could be secret Government Craft and looked like the TR3 Project.
I have seen in the stars through binoculars most nights, what apear to be stars that move, sometimes i seen them move then stop then change direction and zig zag. Sometimes i seen then move and then get faster.
sometimes i see two of them behind each other moving fast and in same direction then they split up and one went directly east the other flew north west. And i seen one before go fast then just shoot off like a shooting star.
Again these are just like stars as they that far away, they cant be planes, dount they debre in space or comments.
But i cant say they are Aliens, they could and are maybe just satellites who knows.

LOL watching these people saying they know what all the things are without any proof - reminds me of prometheus so much!
This must be an event either in our past OR future - wow way to be specific there! She says it must be earth and its just a circle hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......................

@skuaimages
Nobody on Earth would be more thrilled to learn that we were created by an alien intelligence than I. I am NOT a disbeliever. However, I am not a believer either. I am not a believer because there is no evidence.
To my eye, the lines on those tablets are distinctly non-Mayan. Essentially, I have made a blink-style judgement that they are "lacking in authenticity" as genuine Mayan/Mesoamerican artifacts. However, even if they were authentically from the Yucatan or thereabouts from 1,000 BCE ~~ 600 CE, and even if they had linguistically authentic messages about them written in one of the Maya scripts of the time, that STILL does not prove the existence of ancient extraterrestrial visitors or human-genome tamperers. Someone "back then" could have had a wonderful imagination as well.
I thank you for posting this topic and think it has generated some interesting discussion.
I would find the evidence offered much more "compelling" even if it were via an announcement from THIS INSTITUTION, rather than a claim from a "meeting of scientists" in Germany.
For the record, I love everything that points in this direction for different reasons and contexts. BUT, I HATE it when people use the ambiguity around these types of objects or their provenance in order to instill fear in people or otherwise intentionally manipulate their emotions in the goal of having them fall in line for some "administered belief system".
When anyone is paying for fiction, they should be AWARE that they are paying for fiction—no matter how the collection plate is passed.

And sukkal that is the exact point.
It does not matter if you invited ETs round every thanks giving or if you have a Ghost of a relative who still lives with you.
They would not be prove of such things to me, even if you had photos how do i know they not faked.
and here is the funny thing even if i saw these things for myself so say a ET landed in my back yard and said "hey buddy put the kettle on and do us a cuppa will ya"
There would be a part of us that would think.... am i dreaming or am on drugs or something.
At this moment in time as far as i am concerned and same goes for most apart the lucky few who have seen or believe they had....
There is no 100% concrete proof about Gods, Angels etc or Aliens from out of Space. Same can also say there is not conclusive proof exactly what happened with regards to Evolution and the Big Bang etc.
Years ago people thought it would be impossible to ever set foot on the Moon or for man to walk with the stars. same for man being able to fly and also cross over the ocean to the Americas.
But they are now proven fact that these things are true and have happened, but we have yet to with the same concrete proof, prove Aliens or Gods.
Yes we also cant disprove them 100% but it depends on the person, if your one of the Innocent until proven guilty, or guilty until proved otherwise.
I just take middle ground and look at all evidence, facts and not facts and try make a rational explanations, so while i cant rule out things i also dont jump to conclusions that things are real unless i see and touch them myself.
So i am still waiting for ET to come down and got some beers chilled in the fridge for when ever he does.... or if Jesus comes down, but he only drinks Wine lol. And i am a Beer, Ale or Cider man myself ;)

Well, there was this one time I was abducted.
I remember being bent over thinking ‘JEEEEEZUS! No ones ever going to believe me.
I got back three days later, and left it as one as life’s great mysteries.
And that’s why I don’t drink Absinthe.
It’s amazing what some people will conclude by how they join the dots.
