Tonight.... tonight i finally saw it and i was over-joyed and underwhelmed at the same time! What it is: An epic movie Too fast CGI fest Blockbuster Best SCI-FI movie in a while It is not: Dark Scary Gritty Bad i have see reviews, panning the cast and story but i think most of these have it wrong. i understand why you need to view it twice. The highlights Fassbender (he is amazing) plot twists CGI Monsters Idris Elba Sean Harris The let downs: The way it jumps from scene to scene its so fast, blink and you'll miss it! some of the acting some of characters lack of back ground Giant Star fish proto hugger thingymigger if something is falling on top of you...why run in the direction its falling? The Film is EXACTLY as people have named it, a summer blockbuster. It lacks the Horror of Alien, because the psychology isn't there, you don't feel for any one if they die and they dies pretty quick and in bright visuals. The film is so fast you cant really build up any suspense, and you can lose track of it , BUT there is plenty of good story, and Noomi pulls off a convincing heroin. This movie was made for the masses, you can disagree with me if u like, but it is simply because there is no rooms for a In-depth or powerful story line in cinema atm, These films don't really get people into the cinema any more as most people just don't have the attention span for a deep story (which I think this film has and needed to be brought fourth) The movie is not Alien, and will never be it. Its never going to be as scary, or dark. but what it is, is something very very special that could of been even more, it is a thriller movie with a SCI -FI world. the sequel will fill the the gaps we need.

it is made for a commercial audience, if it was horror and only adults could watch it Fox wouldn't make so much money..... they have also set the film up so that all of us goons pay to go and see a sequel, and possibly a sequel to the sequel. We are mugs and we will watch them..... So who is the idiot(s)??? Fox and Ridley or the paying audience.......

i think prometheus is just the laying ground for the proper story to come. i do reckon that since fox is a bit out of the game for a while and didn´t really make a hit with the rest of the alien row towards the first 2 parts and that now since its about money they want to see how much potencial is in the franchise, when they see a full boxoffice and alot of fans waiting for proper sequel or two they will finally jump out of the box with deeper plots and tales of the jockeys and aliens different connections etc. i did read there will be one more mutual sequel and then a hardcore twin brother to alien 1 which should then satisfy us at the most. i do reckon ridley is clever when to meet the gods in his story. we haven´t seen them yet.

FOX couldn't afford to spend all that money on it, and it become another ALIEN, although it really should have ended up like that. It just didn't have the wider appeal to make the money or warrant the visual porn of an IMAX release

If am honest, i think i walked in expecting a horror with deep dark places. what i got, blew my mind and left me a gog, but those expectations left me with the meh? feeling. From this i know that David's line "big things have small beginnings" is very true indeed, and i desperately hope that the followings will improve on the the stuff that works!

I fear it's at worst, LOST++ at best, the start of a brand new ENGINEER franchise. r.i.p. Alien - anyway, for me Alien died in 1979, everything 'Alien'(coughs) since then has been a sacrilege, and yeah I'm talking about Aliens onwards (though Cameron wrote a rollicking good riot of a script). :) My closing comment, that whimpering white alien(4) sucked out by its own asshole. Yeah, it died in 1979. Now, whether the new ENGINEER franchise is gonna be salvagable, going forward....
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...
