In a nutshell

"Prometheus is a fundamentally flawed film that simply has too many plot-holes and inconsistencies in it to ever be hailed as a sci-fi masterpiece in-line with its predecessor(s). Its botched scripting is most likely as a result of the input of screenwriter Damon Lindelof, who worked similarly destructive ‘magic’ on Lost, and, in that respect, I have deep concerns about where the story will go from here in the planned sequel."

Hopefully, if a sequel gets made, they fire everyone who worked on Prometheus. They definitely need to bring Giger back into the fold, and not just to paint a mural.

@Gromster - I think its safe to say that review clinches it for all of us who had problems with the film.
We all seem to have the exact same problems with it.

Cheers for the replies. One thing worth mentioning is that I took my wife to see the film. She isn't a major sci-fi fan, but she enjoyed it and kept pace with the story. I suppose if they have gone out to try and satisfy a wider mainstream audience than just us "Alien" fans (who would understandibly analyse it more) then they could have succeeded.

Hi All
Not sure if this has been said before and there are some spoilers
But from reading the leaked script on this website does anyone else think the leaked script would fill a lot of the plot holes in the film?
maybe it was a first draft script before damon worked on it?
after watching the film the script to me made a lot more sense i felt the film didn’t make it very clear why the SJ attack but the leaked script i felt explained this rather well?
there were quite a few parts of the leaked script that made more sense than in the film to me
I also felt a few of the char death seem a little weak? Hollaway and Vickers for example
Again the leaked script seemed better?
what do you guys think?

There were a couple of ''leaked'' scripts so I'm not sure which one you're referring to. But I preferred the script with that ''star beast'' over this shit.

Hi. Long time reader, first time poster here.
Just got home from seeing it at a VMax cinema for the first time myself.
I must say my girlfriend and I enjoyed it - mainly thanks to the "lowering of my expectations" by fellow member reviews, and forcing my GF to watch the viral vids first ;). Had my GF and I watched it cold, we would have been quite disappointed, but instead we took it for what it was.
My 2 cents worth, and nothing new here I guess;
It was very rushed, and because it was rushed;
- It lacked substance
- it seemed cheap (ala modern Hollywood). I agree about the comments made about irrational and unrealistic behavior of the cast, that others have made
- one could be excused for thinking the story had holes (I personally didn't think that)
- one could be excused for thinking the story was disjointed (again I didn't really think that myself). Those seeing the movie without having watched the virals or Alien franchise flicks must be thinking "WTF is going on??!! Did I fall asleep for 5 minutes and miss something?"
It didn't need to be in 3D. I wish the 3D budget could have been spent on an extra 45mins or more to improve the story and acting.
Contrary to popular opinion, I thought all acting was pretty p!ssweak
I liked that id didn't answer many old questions
I liked that it opened more questions
It left enough to the imagination to make one think a bit
I think Fox have alienated both the "die hard cult followers" and the general public, by compromising on film duration by using the viral technique. I don't think it pleases either group. The general viewer probably would have greatly benefited from somehow including the virals in the main movie, even if it meant adding 30 mins to the running time. Cutting the movie short spoiled it for those looking for detail and realism.
I hope the apparent 30 mins of unused shot footage somewhat "fills the gaps" in a director's cut
Cheers :)

I forgot to ask - I actually thought the virals were professionally produced, and were interesting, in some ways better than the actual movie itself.
Did anyone else think this?

Sorry, I didn't intend for my post as a spoiler.
Please go ahead and remove it if you think it gives away the story
:)
