Some "bad news" for Portugal
Prometheus Forum Topic

MemberOvomorphJune 07, 20121355 Views26 RepliesSadly, wile reading the newspaper this morning I found that PROMETHEUS is rated M12 [PG13]. Well, not only this is somewhat degrading [there is no censorship in Portugal, so it baffles me the reason for this rating], we don't have IMAx theatres here [used to have one in Vila Franca de Xira, but bad management ruined it] and some friends keep telling me that our 3D Screenings are aweful].
Queston for the wise:
does this mean Portugal gets a shortened version of Prometheus?

Possibly. That's not nice at all, feeling really sorry for all the peeps in that beautiful country... Hope some can manage to go across the border into Spain, if things are better there.

Couldn't say David 1, I have no idea what your rating system is like.
I'd go check it out, and see for yourself, come back and compare notes with all of us. Hopefully you will see the same version everyone else is, I hope that for you!

Several sources stated it as M16 (R rated), so, there's still a hope...

Our rating system:
M16 [R rated]
M18 [R rated ... and Porn]
M12 [PG-13]
M6 [movies for children]
*M - stands for "Maiores do que" [older then]

In UK it was 15 and to be honest, i dont think it was that graphic so i dont see the need to cut much if anything out really....

I've seen in [url=http://cinema.sapo.pt/pesquisa/?terms=alien]this site[/url] that Alien was rated PG-13 (M12 here) and AVP was rated R (M16 here)!!!!!
It also states prometheus as R rated (M16), but that's probably not updated, the newspaper is more trustable.

Hello guys.
I will go to Portugal from Vigo (Spain) in a few days to watch the film.
Is it in english with subtitles or dubbed in Portuguese?
Thanks a lot !
mr pest June 08, 2012
I think that the film we'll all see will be identical just a case of different nations rating things differently nothing to sinister just a difference in opinion across the ratings bodies

David 1June 09, 2012
Bassman, the movies here are subbed, not dubbed. ^.^ [only Disney animations are dubbed and Harry Potter gets dubbed for children]

This was the reason I don't watch movies in theaters here in India. Censor system is doomed.
What's more? Movie was kicked out of cinema theater in just 3 weeks.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.
