Ships from PROMETHEUS

Hi guys, Just wanna ask had anyone observed the ships, at the very opening scene of the ship is full round shape, where an Engineer had land on earth; while the ship departed by the space jockey at the last 20 minutes of the film is in a U-shape, just wanna know is there a difference engineers being feature in PROMETHEUS based on the aspects of the ships?

The large solid disc at the beginning is supposedly 500+ million years ago, the other one is from 2000? years ago. there is a huge time scale difference

In addition, the ships have different purpose. The first one, in the opening sequence, was for creating life. The latter ones are like "bombers" and are meant for destroying life so as to possibly start over. There very well could be two types of engineers...possibly even warring with each other.

@abordoli it was quite make sense of why the engineer from the first opening scene try to create new organism by commit suicide itself, and pass it's DNA and form a new organism that shared the same DNA with the engineer......
