MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 12:15 PMOne question that's been bugging me for the last few days is, how did the Engineers know about the Xeno (from the Mural), because from what I can gather from events in the film the Xeno creation is an accident.
Evidence:
1. The Black Goo is some kind of virus that turns the victim into an aggressive monster. Fiffeld and the Worms being the best examples.
2. The Engineers can't have known that procreation between an infected person and an uninfected person would create the Squid baby if they hadn't been to Earth to deliver it yet. Shaw and Holloway's intimate encounter would have been the first case, and therefore the Squid was the first of it's kind.
3. The Squid rapidly evolves into what can only be described as a pre-face hugger (or body hugger might be a better name) and delivers the Xeno seed into the Engineer.
4. Baby Xeno emerges from the Engineer.
If the Engineers created the Murals then how did they know that the Xeno would emerge? Was it really them who made the Murals or was it the Black Goo reconfiguring itself to depict it's possible final form, in which case we are led to ask: is the Black Goo more intelligent than the engineers?

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 12:56 PMI was wondering this myself. Not too mention that the Xeno seen at the end of Prometheus is obviously a pre-evolved alien from the ones we see in Alien. However the Alien in the mural looks like a xeno we all know and love. The only conclusion I can come up with is that the Engineers have tried their weapons out on other species of alien or they somehow knew the genetic changed that would occur from their weapons.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 1:47 PMIts not a weapon the goo is the same from the beginning when they create life. When David infected Holloway by having him ingest it he went through a similar process just like the sacrificial engineer. David tells Shaw that some times you have to destroy life to make a new one when he takes them to awaken the surviving engineer.

MemberOvomorphJun-08-2012 2:23 PMMy take was that what they were engineering (zenos, as we know them) was the perfect weapon to wipe out earth's human population. Humans on earth were an experiment and humans, in the eyes of the engineers were flawed.. If the engineers designed humankind they knew what the perfect elixir to generate a Zeno.. I don't think the Zeno we see at the end was the intended creature... The Zeno "sculpture" in the temple (again, the Zeno we are familiar with) was the intended design.
