The Shavid: Does David secretly like Shaw?

David wanted Shaw all to himself so he killed Holloway to get rid of the competition. : P
All kidding aside------------------------------------
David has a ‘strong’ interest in Shaw from the beginning. Even before he gets to know her, he’s already spying on her dreams. Something tells me he didn't look into Janek, Fifield, or Milford's dreams that often.
LITTLE REASONS-
David is by Shaw's side when she vomits from cryosleep, their real first meeting. There are other people vomiting into cups in the background but his attention is focused on her.
His gaze lingers on Shaw when she and Holloway walk into the presentation area. No surprise, he sits as close to her as he can get.
Then there’s that teasing look he gave Shaw, when he took a jab at Holloway for implying he didn’t know the Engineer’s language well.
David is nice to her when Shaw gets scolded (by Holloway?) for going after the head. Was he trying to cheer her up? Is he trying to undermine Holloway in front of Shaw?
From this point David becomes an egotistical ass, but continues to be help Shaw when he doesn’t have to, like when he gives her his lab coat. After that he starts calling her Elizabeth but I don’t think it’s out of disrespect. He admires something other than her survival instincts, he has for sometime now.
BIGGEST REASON-
Why did David take Shaw's cross necklace? Why did he carry it with him into the pyramid instead of leaving it in the lab if it was contaminated? David lied to her because he wanted to have it.
Do I believe he thinks the cross has special powers? No, he wants it because it’s Shaw's. He wants a memento from her.
I know I’ve been over thinking this and maybe I’m wrong. Maybe he’s more of a stalker, or maybe he wants a friendship with her, and doesn't know how to go about it.
But I keep thinking back to the cross. It reminds me of knights who carried around their girlfriend’s handkerchief when they went into battle.
David carried Shaw's cross with him on the most important day of his life.
