Scott, Lindelof vs Alien fans

MemberOvomorphJune 09, 20121018 Views14 RepliesThe xeno shown at the end will somehow manage to get into Shaw's derelict ( or LV-223 will be visted by Engineers after she leaves and it could be one of their derelicts ) hitchhike a ride to LV-426 and there you go, the story of Prometheus 2 and 3 connecting to Alien, very predictable. Scott and Lindelof, you have already screwed the expectations of thousands of fans by making the SJs humanoid ( or they made us in their likeness or whatever the crap it is, it is all the same for the point I am making ) and if you have a shred of respect left for them, you will makeup a decent story about the relationship between the Engineers and Xenos ( the ones shown in the mural ) which exceeds all expectations. Something about two alien races with no human element in it to muddle it all up.

Funny, before the movie came out every "Alien" fan thought Ridley Scott was near God when it comes to films. Now because he gave them what he wanted and not what they wanted everybody just craps all over him and Lindelof.
I really hope the plot for the sequels isn't as weak or predictable as you just said it could be though, and that maybe the burn that a lot of folks are feeling will go away after the sequels are made and seen as a whole story.

Well - I'm sure there has been plenty of evidence to suggest the Giger xeno we are all familar with (from Alien) already exists during the time of Prometheus.
The Giger / Xeno mural, the fatal injuries sustained by the dead / fossilised Engineers, timeline of the events during Alien stating that the derelict ship on LV-426 would have crashed during roughly the same time (if not exactly) of the events on LV-223 when the Engineers were scrambling to get away (i.e. as seen through the holographic playback in the film), etc etc.
So therefore the xeno we see at the end of Prometheus would be some new kind of cross-breed xeno.
But I could be wrong. Who really knows for sure...
I'm sure somebody will absolutely and thoroughly correct me if I was wrong :)

That doesnt make sense.
The Engineers already have some sort of affliation with the xenomorphs...
Remember the plaque in the temple with the original xenomorph & face hugger? So it means there is some sort of respect for them.
But it also rules out the 'evolution' theory of the xenomorph because the one on the plaque is similar to the one on the Nostromo, so that type already exists.

Well, when I say the Giger Xeno we are all familiar with - maybe not EXACTLY the same, as that breed of Xeno could only ever possibly come into creation by a Human (Earthling?) giving 'birth' to it....or whatever you want to call it.
And yet that mural / plaque we see has an image waaay too close to what we already are familiar with.
You think maybe the Engineers have been abducting Humans over time and experimenting on them to create this "perfect organism"...?

@megatron Your explanation is full of holes. The Engineers in LV223 had been dead for thousands of years before Prometheus landed & no one from their planet bothered to go back and find out why.
This "proto alien" is nothing of the sort. It's definitely a xeno of some kind but watching the chain of events it just seemed to be a variation. The black goo seems to instill certain inherent qualities to it's creations, like acid blood, an instinct to constrict and penetrate and so on.
There's also the "altar" to consider which not only shows what looks like a xeno but also a facehugger.

I have no doubt that this black goo is somehow related to the xenos we're familiar with but this thing in Prometheus is more like a cousin to them and not a predecessor.

No one has gone to find out what? All I am saying is that the freak accident of Shaw's creation will lead (predictably) to the incidents that make Alien. What if they are on their way already? Triggered by the opening of everything by the Prometheus crew? Just in time for Prometheus 2 or 3?

The Space Jockeys were SUPPOSED to be elephant like! IMO, the Space Jockeys not resembling humans adds that extra bit of aura to them. Apparent gentle giants who actually ARE superior to us with an attitude quite befitting a Creator - "Oh shucks.. the remnants of that failed experiment are back. Let me just stomp on them .. "
But no, Scott HAD to piss on it just to prove a point that HE ruled all. Meh.

@megatron Did you see the movie? There was already a disaster in that planet LONG before Prometheus ever landed. Why would anyone from the Engineer's species pick this time to investigate?
Then there's the fact that you're assuming that the xeno seen in Prometheus is the explanation for the eggs in alien which makes NO sense since the Engineers were clearly aware of the "Alien" xenos, as evident by the altar.
Also the little bit that Scott & Lindelof already said that IF there was to be a Prometheus sequel it would run parallel to the events in ALien but take the story further away from Alien. Clearly they want to move the franchise AWAY from Alien and it's sequels, while keeping it in the same universe.
@StarScream Who ever said they were supposed to be elephant like? It's not like the Nostromo crew did any scans or studied the corpse. Had the crew of Prometheus not scanned the head they found they would have never even learned that it was a helmet because it looked organic.

@wilv //It's not like the Nostromo crew did any scans or studied the corpse.//
Which was pretty much RS's plan anyway, wasn't it? To have fans speculate over that one scene and ponder endlessly over the appearance of the Space Jockeys. The AVP wiki refers to them as elephantoid too.
//Had the crew of Prometheus not scanned the head they found they would have never even learned that it was a helmet because it looked organic.//
Exactly my point. We can talk about the helmets now AFTER having watched Prometheus. But what about the post-Alien period? How many people ACTUALLY believed that the fossilized remains included a funny helmet? Besides, isn't it a tad weird that Space Jockeys would wear helmets INSIDE their ship? In a post-Alien, pre-Prometheus discussion, what makes more sense? The fact that the Space Jockeys were elephantoid OR that they were humanoid with helmets that eerily resembled elephants?
In the end, yes, RS has the right to put in whatever he wants. Point noted. My point is, at least give us Space Jockey fanboys something nice to sink our teeth into ;)

@wilv, Put yourself in their space boots. One of you long abandoned sites ( closed down due to a “disater” ) comes to life and a spaceship takes of from it. Would you not go down to inverstigate? Read my post again, I am of the opinion that the xeno we see in the end is the one that ended on LV-426, not the first xeno ever created. If you read it once more, you will see that I am in fact asking/telling Ridely Scott and Lindelof this “I know you will connect to Alien through that xeno you show in the end, predictably but, can you also, additionally, give us a storyline devoid of the human element?”

as a REAL Alien fan, there's just one thing i want to know? okay more then one, like why they call them 'Engineers' when it was established back in the books/comics/ORIGINAL bloody movie the 'pilot' was just that 'the pilot' so every subsequent reference to the species was 'pilot-species', where did this bloody 'space-jockey' and 'engineer' come from?
furthermore, yea, there already was an established 'relationship' between the pilots and xenos back in the comics, 'Destroying Angels' anyone? i truly love it when decades are spent forming a canon only for a single movie to topple it because the people running 'movies' nowadays like to p*ss all over their fans or completely ignore them... yay~
oh joy, i get to sit back and watch as ANOTHER movie completely flips the ALIEN canon, time to acquire all the comics/books before they're re-written... AGAIN!! ----.----

judging by the script presented for this film i believe in all honesty that quite a few people on this forum could indeed write better i'm not kidding either. If that's a cutting edge professional script that Hollywood / fox would pay damn good money for then i'm gobsmacked, baffled, out to lunch, whacko, i need to start investing in books again hell i'm in the wrong business anyone with a general education, and semi / average command of the English language stands a chance of writing a state of the art Hollywood script .
And i'm using my judgement on the evidence presented up on the screen i haven't seen the full script
As someone else pointed out the script was so tightly guarded and shrouded in secrecy the film makers themselves forgot to locate it and reveal it up on screen lol.
