Prologue question

Perhaps their deity? After all, why build a stone face monument to yourself? Any thoughts? Also, doesn't the black goo remind you of the black oil in X-Files?

I can't help believe that the Engineers are at war with some other race (possible the predators) and developed the aliens as a weapon to combat them. The aliens being self-contained expansive death machines, which sole purpose is to kill and multiple? But how do you make enough of them to fight a galactic size war? Drop your DNA on life supporting planets and wait for it to evolve in alien food species, drop of some aliens and farm your army with they finish.
The fact to aliens seem to be designed to use human like species for reproduction may indicate they are domestic to the engineer home world. Or a similar like being they genetically altered.
Does this theory seem to off the wall? It would kind of explain the Engineers violent attack and quick desire to fly the spaceship to earth as soon as they woke him up. I mean, no bathroom break, quick snack, or hey let's look around after 2k years. He his race was losing the war; he would be desperate to get the aliens to earth to start making soldiers.

I actually think, Like humans, they were experimenting with new tech.(Bio-tech).
Think of it this way. They start experimenting with tera-forming. Away from their home land like we have U.S. military creating things under wraps.
Once they have tera-forming down. Its time to make organic life. Heres the deal. Experiments made today by scientist tells us that with a stable atmosphere water will at some point create mono-mers naturally. Problem is we need polymers to create protein and no other way is that showing up naturally. (Scientist believe comets brought the other half ).
So this is why the Engineer sacrificed himself in water. Remember that the sequence showers ad single DNA helix (engineer) fuse with another single helix(being the mono-mer) which brings life.
What Im getting at is that the xeno-DNA could be another branched experiment.
