AdminEngineerJun-10-2012 1:07 AMThe creature which is born from Shaw as a result of an infected Holloway grows up to be a massive, squid-like monster which overpowers our evil Engineer. Thanks to the recent scans from Prometheus: Art of the Film we now have a clearer understanding of the design of this new Alien.

Juvenile Trilobite
As you can see form the image above, the Juvenile Trilobite is very similar to that of a Chestburster - bursting from the abdomen of its victim. Thankfully Shaw was able to remove it via the Med Pod before this happened, but if she hadn't, guaranteed this scene would have been much more gruesome.

Adult Trilobite
In this new image above we see sculpts of the adult Trilobite and a draft sketch which could have been from an unused scene where the crew would have seemingly captured the adult Trilobite.
In the scenes which follow the Engineer's attack on Shaw, Shaw releases the adult Trilobite on the Engineer and form the draft sketches as well as in the film we see just how powerful this new creature is.

So, what are your thoughts on this Proto-Facehugger Alien? Now, the initial "Facehugger" could have still been around before the "Trilobite" even, and the Trilobite could even be of the same type of species of symbiotic parasite.
What are your thoughts on this Fagehugging Alien? I personally find it very interesting and I rather like the design the studio chose to use for it!

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 1:26 AMThis is not the original facehugger - the engineer's ship in Alien is much older than the one featured in Prometheus.
I tend to think the Engineers have many variations of these bio-weapons and we've only seen some of them. There is also hints at a spiritual connection between the Engineers and their xenomorph creations as indicated by the mural, the statues etc.
For my detailed analysis check this thread: http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/7452

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 2:03 AMWell there are only 3 possibilities:
1) An ancestor or prototype of a facehugger.
2) A new and updated version of a facehugger.
3) A collateral creature, perhaps a quirk of biomechanics result of Shaw + Holloway.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 4:49 AMStrange that they call it a trilobite, when it looks like a cephalopod (squid)?

...And what appears in Prometheus are not Proto-Xenomorphs, they are new Xenomorphs - The derelict Engineer craft on LV-426 predates the creations on LV-223.

MemberOvomorphJun-10-2012 9:21 AMI am all for creative freedom, but naming what mostly looks like a cephalopod after an arthropod seems a little clumsy.

MemberOvomorphJun-20-2012 8:43 AMMaybe they meant something scary and biting i.e. "thrill-o-bite"? But suddenly came out with a squid with distinctly perverted sexual preferences... Tentacle -yaoi-hentai, lol!
I'd love to see this trilobite in a thrill film:
