EXCELLENT!!
EXCELLENT!!!
Now my expectations were thoroughly tempered after the
first viewing, I took in a lot more this time round and saw it in 2D
- MUCH better. Looking forward to the blu-ray and other related paraphernalia.

I hated the lagging choppy 3D experience - especially the 'silica storm' which was just like 'flat static' because the 3D effect couldn't keep up with ANYTHING moving faster than a snail onscreen.
Oh, that happened mmmaaannnyyy times.
DVD is where my mind's headed, and potential RE-EDIT, and R-rating.
2013 sci-fi horror novels 'Custodian' and 'Tandem' available from Amazon, B&N, iTunes etc...

I was wondering what 2D was like. I'm seeing it in 2D for my third viewing. Excellent movie. Different than I expected, but excellent.

2d gives a lot more to detail without all the re-adjusting of the glasses and the eye strain for sure....

Man, I didn't even notice the glasses during either viewing. Nice to hear it's good and maybe even better in 2d though. I can't imagine seeing it any other way than 3d but I'm gonna give it a shot.
I knew a lot of what was going to happen going in the first time I saw it. It still blew me away. The second time I saw it wasn't nearly as good as the first. I saw it at 12:01 and stayed up all night and went again at 1:15pm. I think seeing it when I was so tired as well as seeing it when it was all so fresh in my mind took away from the second veiwing. It needs to settle in my mind, I need to think about it then go see it again.
My favorite part is when David wakes the Engineer up and he looks at everyone right before he rips David's head off. I keep seeing it in my head and wanting to see it again.
I love this film.

Love this film in 3d because of the obvious eye candy, the 2d version is a good break however... So far I've seen it in 3d the most, but the 2d is a good option for less distraction, in my opinion

I agree, Freeze. We watched it "3 ways": IMAX 3D, 3D, and 2D---and 2D is certainly the one for repeated viewings, while IMAX 3D was a bombastic, one time view, spectacular, I must admit! I just HATE those freaking glasses---I was constantly out of focus, had to keep my head straight up and down due to the polarizations, and my HEAD POUNDED THE WHOLE time because of how tight those glasses pinch behind the ears...
But, I still LOVED the film so much, that it didn't take away from the experience!

i'm wondering if the people that had a bad 3 D experience saw it in a theatre which wasn't calibrated or what ever they do o show a film in 3 D . I saw it in IMAX and it was flawless.

The IMAX 3-D glasses are far and away superior to "regular" 3-D theatre glasses. No comparison. I forget they are on for long periods of time. My favorite scene is when David fires up the holographic of the different star systems, it is mind-bending. When he holds "earth" I nearly cried. I'm still stunned by this wonderful film!

Just saw my second viewing, this time on IMAX3D, first time I even been to an IMAX movie as well... Loved it second time round and picked up so much more, like knowing vickers relationship to Weyland now and seeing the disgruntled look on her face when viewing the hologram of Weyland say David is like a son to him before the mission takes place. As they entered the planets atmosphere a quick comment that they picked up something on the scanners "could be metal" which helps to explain how they headed straight to that area. I had thought it was odd that David's head was in the same place it was when the engineer ripped it off after the crash, this time I realised that it wasn't, so that all fit into place as well. I also noticed after the engineer got into the chair and suited up the star map plotted a heading to earth... Must have missed that first time around, always thought it was odd Shaw saying "there won't be a home to go to"
First viewing I felt it was all too fast, quick edits etc, this time it felt more like a rollercoaster of adrenalin right through to the end.
Can't wait for the bluray
