I had planned on typing thousands of words on how I could have written a better story in my sleep, and what my plot would have been, but why bother. I/WE as a forum and group of people have put in so much more energy and thought than damon lindelof ever did. I cannot believe they let him near this story, I feel like I watched a two hour episode of that horrible show lost. Did no one learn from that show? Isnt it bad when a writer makes the shit up as he goes! Who the hell wanted him on this script? Nothing, nothing was explaing. His lazy writing wants you to fill in the blanks. You know what that is? Wrong. lazy. 8th grade writing. I cannot stress how disappointed I was in general with the movie. As a stand alone movie it was ok, 6/10. As anything in the aliens universe, it was so bad. I left the theatre literally pissed off. You should have seen the mood of the theatre when it ended, you could feel the anger and confusion in the air. No one clapped, cheered, or anything. I head a few breaths of air let our, and a bunch of 'wow that sucked'. Why did anyone let that talentless hack near our 'universe'?

Good question - that is maybe the MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION that Ridley Scott should answer by himself, and take the consequences according to the sequels... Anyway - Scott and Lindelof wrote the script based on Spaiths script TOGETHER when i can believe on of lindelofs interviews, but that does not make it even better. With LITTLE changes here and there it would have been 100% better outcome. I miss some kind of "quality check" in storytelling.

If your script writing would be anything like your post, I'd say away from it.

It was an entertaining movie but it had some very big flaws. I feel it was deliberately held back to save something for the sequels. Worth seeing, it is a good Sci-fi movie, just don't expect a masterpiece.

Don't expect a masterpiece or even a half-decent sci fi movie and you wont be disappointed. Basically if you make up your mind that you will like the film by judging it, not as a whole, but by certain scenes that worked while ignoring a majority of the move then you will like it. Otherwise, it will just seem like a great big mess of a film and will leave you confused as to how no one noticed how bad the dialogue and story was.

@ Symmetricon Wow. I am not trying to write a paper here man. These are just random thoughts from my head to a forum of my peers. Thanks for being the English teaching in the bunch.

I know, I did expect too much. I can't help that as an Alien fan I wanted to actually find out more. I absolutely hated Lost and cannot help but feel he brought to much Lost-ness for lack of a better term to the movie.

Lost style mystery worked ok for a TV show with weekly installments and annual seasons. Lost was entertaining in its own way. But for films which are individually longer and years apart .. its a terrible idea.

We just waited so long, and I guess looking at it now there was no way we could all be 100% satisfied. It could have been a much better movie/story is all I am trying to say. And I know, that has been said 100 times before on this forum. I just wanted to say it one more time as you people are the only ones I have to talk about this movie with that will know anything about it. Here is to a Lindelof free Prometheus sequel made solely for us fans.

I have to agree with you Wilson. I don't usually go on to forums to discuss movies, much less to say how bad they were, but I was so let down by this movie. "It was wrong, so, so wrong." Some people on this board have tried to enumerate the flaws; I won't do that in detail. I'll just agree with you: I could have written a better screenplay in my sleep. Time for R.S. to hang up his spurs. So sad. I'm just stunned that people liked the movie. I almost walked out.

spaceyfreak, I think you are right, with a few changes here and there it would have been a lot better story. i personally don't think the film would need a complete overhaul to be better but just a few things expanded upon and a good re-edit and it would be better. it's hard to please everyone but I see how it could be improved. i liked the film, but I"m actually easy to please IMO. What I do wish is that the directors cut get a good re-edit and put some of the missing concept art in. I've read some stuff on the concept art and I think if they would put that in a better film could come to be.

If it was perfect there wouldn't be anything to say about it. Perhaps a fragmented plot is what's needed nowadays to get people intellectually invested in a story. It doesn't mean it has to be pleasant, but it works.

Agreed....same atmosphere in both cinemas on the 2 occasions i saw it....apparently Lindelof has been drafted in now too...to re-write...large parts of Brad Pitts 'World War Z'....theyre not Zombies BRAD...they're engineers...they started the virus...or did they? tune in next week for the next chapter of 'PROMETHYWARZLOST' part Deux....

You know I kind of agree with ever one on this . It let me down the cgi and sets were out standing. The plot needs some work . Where were the creatures the bio meds etc , I didn't see any . They explained nothing in the movie and it is a set up for another movie or series of movies . We all know that Fox will only produce these movie if "Prometheus" makes enough movie they have to re-coup their investment , through dvd's , toys , us going to see the movie several times . I saw in 3D it was ok , I could have saved the extra dollars for 3d tickets . I'll see in 2d next week. I did like the movie but the next move they make better be "Off the Chain " this was not . The DVD most have the deleted scenes .
