Snorkelbottom is right. I'm pretty sure what we saw in this movie is the new version of the xeno species, or something else entirely.

It's poppycock, just like it was poppycock in "Alien" and all the rest of the movies, everytime a tiny chestburster morphed into a 7 ft. tall monster without evidence that any of them had eaten squat to grow that large.

So Didn't you just answer your own question? If there was no food to sustain itself and it still grew, then wouldn't the answer be that it doesn't need food to sustain itself and grow. We're talking about a fictional monster in a fictional movie. If you want to go by facts I'm sure you could find some kind of organism that actually exists that can sustain itself and grow some other way than with food. I haven't taken science since I was a kid, but doesn't photosynthesis work that way or something like that?

Alien lifeform doesnt need to eat to grow big necessarily. I remember reading somewhere that xenos can feed off electricity but dont quote me on that. I dont mean biting down on a power cable...

Squidbaby was the proto face hugger.The only reason it grew big was so it could fight the bald guy(convenient movie logic).This movie doesn't have any logic at all, a small facehugger would take that bald guy down just as easily, after all they were made for humanoid mouths,Ridley has forgotten his own creation.On that note, the facehugger pops out from an egg and the alien(facehugger's egg)pops out of your stomach not another facehugger as in prometheus.

New xeno? bro, that squid was a giant facehugger thats all. it grabbed the bald guy and planted an egg down his throat and an alien popped out of his stomach. whats new about it? The designs are not as cool that's what is new.
